Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

THE GOOD

MAU-RICE CREEK clap, clap, clap, clap, clap- Need I say more? This kid can be a really special player barring injury.

Assist to Turnover Ratio- Would have been 2 to 1 if it weren't for the scrubs turning it over at the end of the game. Turning the ball over fewer than ten times against a long, lanky, and athletic Kentucky team speaks volumes as to how far this team has come. For those keeping track at home, we had 19 turnovers to only 12 assists in this game last year against a much worse Kentucky team.

Shooting Percentage- Surprisingly, our shooting percentage has gotten noticeably better as we've progressed through the season, even though the competition level has gone up. You can tell that our players are starting to get a feel for who can do what, who can hit what shots, and where to pass them the ball so they're in the best position to score. As our team continues to progress, and we continue to get more comfortable with each other, the shooting percentage will only go higher.

Intensity- Going up 17-9 to start, and the battling back later in the game to take the lead 48-47 just goes to show how hard our players' busted their asses. We were outmatched in every aspect of the game, but we didn't give up much. Take out the 18-0 run that UK had, and that game was close in every phase.

THE BAD

REBOUNDING- Unless we paid Andre the Giant to play this one for us, we should have expected to get very many either. UK had Patterson, Cousins, and Orton all to way outmatch us. They even had Harrellson buried on the bench, and he's better than any single big man we have. The rebounding, and resulting put-back points, were the nails in the coffin for our team. Hopefully this game will leave a sour taste in our team's mouth, and they'll crash the boards harder as we go into conference season. Honestly, I'm not that worried about it overall given that we're not going to play against teams any bigger than UK all season.

Free Throw Shooting- Actually we were fine on free throws if it wasn't for Bobby Capobianco going 0-5. The other big difference between the Pitt win and the UK loss was free throw shooting. We got more makes than Pitt did attempts, and we were far outshot from the line by Kentucky. Those are the hidden points that make a close game a blowout.

THE BOTTOM LINE
Honestly there were other bad things, but I'm not going to knit pick given the situation that we were in. There is no reason why any of us should have even suggested IU had a chance in this game, and the fact that we were in the game until 17:00 to go is a miracle in itself. Kentucky is loaded this season, and we probably won't face anybody with that kind of talent depth all season. It's my opinion that we played our best game of the season thus far. Assist to turnover was amazing, we shot well, and Maurice Creek emerged as a star. I think our team walked out of this game far better. As Jeremiah Rivers said, "our team is far better than it was 10 days ago." Hopefully we can get Pritchard a confidence boost in the next three games, and we can head into the conference season on a little bit of a high note. Finally, I predicted the final margin of this game because the last 3 meetings have followed an obvious trend. IU by 19 in 2007, UK by 18 in 2008, so UK by 17 was the clear choice. Just an ironic observation.

I agree with everything you said. I know we all expected (and hoped) we'd be better this year but we obviously are vastly improved. I still am very curious to see how we progress through Big 10 play.
