Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,

Btown,

I happen to agree with alot of what you say. i also think alot of people seem to over look the coach of Ohio. The Bobcats have a great coach. He took the step down to the MAC from a blue blood school. Lynch seems like a quality guy. I say make him a part of the athletic department or someway related to the football program. I would hire that coach from Ohio. Not OSU but the Ohio Bobcats. That man can coach and what redemption would it be to take IU to a BCS.

1) He’s Cheap
2) He’s loyal
3) He’s getting better — Baby steps. Baby steps.
The thing you're forgetting is the cost of time. I believe the construction of facilities at the stadium cost approximately $55 million. It wasn't built to 'maintain'. It has the largest strength and conditioning facility at any University in the U.S. (25,000 Square Feet!!). The shock and awe of a place like that as a recruiting tool drops quickly as it looks outdated, and as someone that deals with technology, I would think you'd realize the time frame that that will occur.

Bill Lynch also isn't 'improving' as Dreach pointed out. IU has had a lot better players come through here than what I saw on the field this past year.
And if we fire him before the contract is up, the buyout is simply money we won't spend on a replacement.

Until people show up in the stands, there is no reason to put money into the program..and until we win, people aren't going to be in the stands. The truth is that even we have won, we haven't put people in the stands.

You all know my feelings on Lynch as a coach...but I don't want to replace him with another even cheaper, less accomplished coach because we can't afford any better.

Reminds me of how everyone wondered why teams weren't going after the Buffalo coach after last season.

And the Bulls followed the MAC championship season up with a 5-7 record. Don't go after a guy based on a single season. Ohio's best win all season was Temple....not exactly awe-inspiring.

I for one hope we don't hire a MAC coach again.

You can go after a MAC coach you just have to be carefull about which one you go after. Hep was a MAC coach and he was going to turn IU football around IMO.

Honestly, I don't think he was. We weakened our out of conference schedule to the point where a decent team would go 3-1 or 4-0 against them. James Hardy was an offensive mismatch that we could exploit and hid a lot of deficiencies.

I agree. Solich is a hell of a coach that gets almost no recognition.

He brought some success to NEBRASKA, and is now making Ohio very respectable. Why on earth couldn't he improve IU football?

OH yeah.... IU could go after Charlie Weiss too! LOLLLLL

back on subject...the uniform is uninspiring...generic.

off subject...iu football has no tradition, lacks support and has a history of losing. there's no quick fix...no great hire that's going to turn it around just like that.

about the uniforms, my friend that plays football said that was just a sample. he said there are a ton of mannequins floating around the facility with uniforms on it, and he said that was just one of a few. the official decision hasn't been made yet apparently.

Btown, have you heard anything about an equipment sale, and do you know what specific equipment would be sold -- helmets, jerseys, etc?
Since I entered politics, I have chiefly had men’s views confided to me privately. Some of the biggest men in the United States, in the field of commerce and manufacture, are afraid of somebody, are afraid of something. They know that there is a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive, that they had better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it.

Usually there is an athletics sale on all sorts of old gear from all the different sports sometime in October I think. Super cheap stuff, but also extremely popular. Very long lines. Takes place in Assembly Hall.
