| Welcome to Our Hoosier Board! Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions. Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful. Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine! Assistant Coach

Apparently he is unhappy at Fordham and transferring. He is a sophomore guard and supposedly he is visiting IU this weekend and was at the game tonight at MSG. Several other major schools are also going after him, including USC, Miami, OK State, and K State. Must be decent, but I don't know anything about him and haven't seen him play. Do we really want him? |

probably not. he's a good player, but we don't need him. i wouldn't complain if he did come here -- but i don't think he serves much of a purpose here.

The skinny: Fontan was a highly regarded recruit coming out of high school and looked to be the building block in rebuilding Fordham's program. Scouts had him as the 13th rated PG in 2007; rivals didn't regard him quite that high. Anyway, he went to Fordham and they were horrid....3-25 horrid. Other players transfered and he asked for his release....which Fordham denied. It's incredibly rare to see a school not release a player who was at the school and asked for one. His options became either to stay at Fordham or transfer and go without a scholarship for a year. He actually considered transferring and going a year without a scholarship but after hearing advice from his high school coach (Bobby Hurley) decided to stay. Fordham continued losing, he continued to not be happy, and basically said he would go ahead and transfer without his release. I believe at this point Fordham has granted his release at this point, I believe, at the end of the semester. It's hard to tell how good he is because Fordham was so horrible. He led them in scoring, minutes, and assists last year, but also didn't shoot very well. Who knows what he will do in a better program, but I believe that several Big East schools are looking at him. |
