Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Why does a Boiler like yourself pay $100 per year subscription to an IU board?
Both schools recruit a lot of the same players, and there are posters (not Peegs or his mods) that post useful information.
i've yet to see that...

br
Do you read the premium boards of GBI or Peegs?
i've read about 30-40 articles from the premium side. mostly filled with speculation, unconfirmed or anonymous sources, information that typically goes nowhere, or leads from facebook status.

I mean, who can forget the, "It's down to three names" article about the next IU coach. Tom Crean was named coach less than 24 hours later and he wasn't one of the three names listed in the premium article. Fucking funny...and even more worthless. rivals/scout are the worst sites out there in terms of accuracy. just because you luck out on guesses every now and then doesn't in any way make you an elite news source. in addition, their scouting reports are notably inaccurate and subjective. their star ratings are laughable and inconsistent. i trust espn more than scout/rivals....and espn sucks.

br

yeah i posted that shit for you guys, the whole "three names thing"

and Crean wasn't even mentioned....

that was pretty god damn funny
what's even more frustrating is to think how many people subscribed that day to read that article then later realized they just threw away 100 bucks. How many refunds do you think they gave out? I'm guessing they wouldn't. complete phonies...

Well, lumping all of the sites in with Peegs is your first problem.

Reading is apparently your second:

"Both schools recruit a lot of the same players, and there are posters (not Peegs or his mods) that post useful information."

You don't get that info or insight in the premium content.

We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

7 day free trial, and you can cancel it without losing any money.

If you have credible sources, access to the program, and are consistently right, why wouldn't you do something like that? Unfortunately, you have probably been exposed to Peegs, which only has one of the top 3 going for him.

So you pay $100 per year for the pleasure of reading Peeg's premium boards? That's more lame than paying to read the articles....
Since I entered politics, I have chiefly had men’s views confided to me privately. Some of the biggest men in the United States, in the field of commerce and manufacture, are afraid of somebody, are afraid of something. They know that there is a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive, that they had better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it.

Actually, my friend pays for it and we both use the account. I pay for GBI, he pays for Peegs, all on the same account so we can both access the information.

Yesterday we set the table with background info on Jio Fontan, today we hear from the player himself. The 6-foot-0, 185-pound sophomore received the news this week that he will be released by Fordham and is considering Indiana and several other programs for his next college stop. Yesterday when we reached Fontan, he was still determining his official visit agenda and told us that plans to come to Bloomington have likely changed.

"As of right now I am not 100% sure that the (Indiana) visit is going to occur this weekend," said Fontan. "Originally it was suppose to be this weekend but we are probably going to reschedule."

Of course tomorrow at noon is the big Kentucky game at Assembly Hall.

Fontan battles against Villanova's Antonio Pena
"I would like to be there on a weekend that they have a home game," said Fontan. "I thought I would be there this weekend but a couple things changed."

He ran through what he knows about the use of the five official visits each prospects is allotted.

"Nothing is 100% sure until tomorrow morning but it seems like it may be Miami (FL) this weekend, USC I will take a visit to and I may visit Tennessee as well. I am leaving the fourth and fifth visits undecided simply because some schools called a little later like Virginia, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Arizona -- a couple other schools have also reached out. So I am leaving the fourth and fifth open for now."

It has been less than a week that Fontan has been on the market but high major colleges have not been shy about throwing out scholarship offers. He ran through his offer list with us yesterday.

"Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Indiana, Miami, Arizona, USC, Tennessee, I should hear from Virginia today," said Fontan.

Even though he was the top scoring freshman in the Atlantic 10 last season, Fontan was worried about the level of interest he would receive.

"Coming into the situation I wasn't sure what schools would be involved," said Fontan. "I was taking a big chance that some of the bigger schools had seen me play last year or when I played international ball. It has kind of worked out to my favor and I am thankful for it."

While he may not make it to tomorrow's Kentucky game, Fontan has already seen the Hoosiers first hand this week.

"As I was saying to my dad before, Indiana is a great university," said Fontan. "I was at the game (Tuesday), my brother players for Pittsburgh and it was surprising to see all the fans out there and the great support they have. They have great support. I like how they play, it is a great style and I feel like I fit well with it. Hopefully we can make the visit. Depending on how much more I talk to Coach Crean and Coach McLeod, I will make that visit."

Starting Pitt guard Travon Woodall grew up living with Jio and his father Jorge Fontan. That story is one of many to come out in March in a PBS special on the basketball program at St. Anthony High School in Jersey City, New Jersey. Click here for details on that upcoming movie that focuses on head coach Bob Hurley's efforts with Jersey City area players.

One of Hurley's former players is Indiana assistant coach Roshown McLeod.

"I have known Coach McLeod since I was in high school," said Fontan. "I have a good relationship with him both on and off the court."

He is also fairly familiar with Indiana head coach Tom Crean.

"I am a big fan of Coach Crean, I have followed him ever since he was at Marquette," said Fontan. "My best friend Tyshawn Taylor goes to Kansas, committed to him when he was at Marquette. I talk to him about every day and I brought up the topic of Coach Crean and how he felt about him and he had nothing but great things to say about Coach. I like also the fact that he lets the guards play and most importantly, just the tradition of Indiana is unbelievable. From what I hear the atmosphere at the games is great, the fan support is there on and off the court."

Fontan then talked to why Indiana thinks he can help the program.

"They like how on the offensive end I can drive and create good shots from my teammates," said Fontan. "Also that I have enough offense that opponents have to guard me number one and then I can beat opponents off the dribble to create easy opportunities or play off the pick and roll. The most important thing Coach Crean was excited about was my ability to play great on the ball defense. He said that was a big part of my game that he liked."

Now we wait and see if the point guard hits Bloomington with one of his five visits. A decision will have to happen soon so he can settle in before the new semester gets underway.

"It (Indiana) is a great university unto itself," said Fontan. "It is an extremely attractive university to my eyes and something that I am really interested in. Comes down to getting a better feel and that would come through speaking to Coach McLeod a little bit more and Coach Crean. Hopefully we can take that visit but it's not 100% right now, but it is definitely possible."
