Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

To be eligible to be in the big ten, the school must be a research school. Notre Dame isn't a research school so I doubt they could join. Given their academic prestige, I wouldn't mind if the rules changed to allow them in though.
The Big Ten has went after Notre Dame before....expect that the Big Ten will change the rule for the right fit.
aren't you a teacher?

haha, seriously, we do need to add a 12th schools. Preferably one with good academics, and a good balance of good athletic teams. I.E. not just basketball and football, but soccer, volleyball, etc. How about a dark horse like Villanova?
Yes, I am a teacher.

Which is why I'm going to have to ask you to capitalize the first letter in every sentence. Also, there should be no comma between 'academics' and 'and.' Lastly, there should be a comma after 'teams' followed by a non-capitalized 'i.e.' that is followed by another comma.

I typed that on my phone. "Ha, Ha," I said to myself.

NW only has an undergrad enrollment of 8K plus...not 18K. http://www.ugadm.northwestern.edu/freshman/facts/

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northwestern_University

my bad I looked at wiki real fast and didn't see it said 8k for undergrad and 18k total

still though, your point is valid in that they have:

1) respectable size
2) extremely good academics
3) good plethora of sports teams

all of which butler does not have.

agree entirely...was not disputing the point(s), only the technicality of undergrad enrollment.

After looking at the map the three that seem to fit are ND, Pitt and Mizzou. Now academically I don't know about Pitt or even Mizzou for that matter. Either way if we had one and made 12 it would make for some interesting divisions depending on how it was sliced.

i think both pitt and missouri would fit in academically, but i definitely think Pitt has more to offer in the academics department.

of course the big 12 moniker is already taken...so we'd have to come up with a new name, or just keep calling it the big 10...seeing as how an 11th team didn't seem to impact that aspect

technically there are 12 members of the big ten if you count the University of Chicago which is still a member academically. oh how confusing it would become.

I still think a Big 12 North team (Kansas, K State, Iowa State, Missouri) makes the most sense..........outside of a few extremely rare years.......they rarely can compete with Texas/Oklahoma

With possibly TCU moving into the Big 12?

It would make sense....TCU was in the old SWC with a lot of the Big 12.

Could also buck Oklahoma up to the North....I'm sure the Big 12 would drool over having Oklahoma and Texas in the title game.
