Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if this is 100% clean. he's a very articulate player...also, since he's a one and done, this doesn't really change anything for UK..his scholly is free next year anyway barring any injuries..

br
Not sure of their scholarship situation, but it would allow them to oversign by an extra player.

Wall will have declared for the NBA before the late signing period begins.

Weird. It doesn't really do much for me, he'll be gone soon anyways. If he's doing good the classroom that's good, and not too shocking. I'm sure he's taking a lot of easy, 100 level classes. And the academic support at such large public universities like a UK or KU or Purdue, I'm not shocked.

Although I've never really heard of anyone getting an academic scholarship after one semester of college, especially when there were doubts about his initial eligibility.

yeah, didn't he go to "word of god" aka "word of basketball" for his senior year? i know he got kicked out of his first high school for having a bad attitude.

for those who don't know "word of god" is a complete joke of a school. it brings a bad name to actual religious educational institutions.

I thought it was against the rules for athletes to get an academic scholarship like that?

Why wouldn't Purdue do this with guys like Hummel and Wohlford if you could?

He did go to Word of God. And its definitely a basketball factory of a prep school. Just like quite a few others. But then again, I don't think every player that goes to prep school is a bad seed and bad student. I think its a case by case type thing.

no i don't think he's a bad student or whatever. i'm just criticizing how calapari always plays up his "academic prowess". i can promise you that he is nowhere near the academic capabilities of someone who has an actual academic scholarship at UK. oh well.

I think I heard Cal talking about Wall have a 3.8 or something GPA thus far. Why wouldn't he talk about that? I'm sure he's not taking organic chemistry or any advanced level classes, but isn't it refreshing to see a kid who only needs a 2.0 to stay eligible through the fall semester actually take things in the classroom somewhat seriously?

I personally love it when Matt Painter talks about how well our kids are doing in the classroom, and I'd assume the IU fans here like it when Crean talks about it. I believe IU had a 3.0 or so GPA this summer, which is awesome.

but don't take an academic scholarship away from a student who actually deserves it. i'd like to hear calapari talk about demarcus cousins' academics. lol.

What's wrong with them? Is he going to be ineligible for the second half of the season?

And if they are truly giving him an academic scholarship, I'd be more upset with the part of the school that is giving him the scholarship than Calipari or Wall. I'm sure they don't make that final decision. And who's to say he doesn't deserve it?

just listen to demarcus cousins talk sometime. haha. he makes eli holman sound smart.

i'm just sick of all these coaches acting like the have some really smart kids on their team when in reality it's just a bunch of kids majoring in social sciences or whatever. i know there are a lot of schools like purdue and butler, and present-day IU that actually have smart kids on the roster -- but when you take a kid that's destined for the NBA and act like he's on the same academic level as many of the real smart kids at a higher learning institution it's just comical.
