  • Indiana named 3rd hottest school of the Decade
Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Hard to take them seriously when they rank Gainesville as the '17th smartest college town.'

Their take:

The home of the University of Florida scores poorly on the town’s collective education level. But not all intelligence is measured through degrees and standardized tests. Gainesville remains as one of the most musically gifted college towns in the country—Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and punk-ska’s Less Than Jake both launched here—and Blender magazine ranked it as the best place to start a band.

Really? A smart college town because they spawned a cotton mouthed singer and these guys http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1tiLOMjSiQ&feature=related?

HELL, Boston beats Gainesville in both college town life and rock bands spawned.

I actually took a tour at U of Florida and they had the biggest dumbasses as student tour guides. One talked about how he was about to change his major for the 9th time. Another talked about walking onto the baseball team during his senior year (Florida has a top baseball program nationally). And they didn't take us into any of the buildings. It was so damn hot and miserable outside too. I immediately marked Florida off my list of college choices.

florida is full of dumbasses, and Bloomington makes Gainesville look like shit. West Lafayette makes Gainesville look like shit. still though, this source isn't the only one to name IU as one of the schools of the decade. US News and World Reports, Forbes, and Newsweek have all said similar things.

(i transferred from florida, so been there, done that)

I don't know what this means, but I think I'm supposed to be upset because Purdue isn't on there.

Damn you dailybeast.com!!!!
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

Contrary to your belief, not everything is posted with Dcam in mind.

I'm not talking about you posting it, I'm talking about the list in general. Definitely didn't think you posted it because Purdue wasn't on there.

I think I would find another source, they also listed Hillary Clinton as the 4th smartest person of the decade.
"I think Ronald Reagan was the best President of our lifetime." -- Johnny Ramone
"Something you Democrats would never understand: Americans - we're homesteaders. We want a safe home, keep the money we make, and shoot bad guys."

I'd say your mom is the smartest woman I've come across.

Or if you prefer they have Ayman al-Zawahiri as number 23
