Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Yep, here it is for those that haven't seen it. Gotta admit though, this is the first time I've seen Jamie Foxx out acted. Can't believe I've not heard of Gerard Bulter until now.

Definitely enjoyed this one. I am a big Jamie Fox fan.

Interesting side note. The director, Gary Gray's only other feature film was The Italian Job. He is mainly a hip hop star documentary director. I thought that was really interesting.

I lied, he also directed Be Cool, but that movie sucked.

Actually I haven't seen it (300). Although I do enjoy the genre (Troy , etc.), I've really heard nothing but bad reviews.

But now that you mention it, I do remember seeing him in the previews. Dude's awesome as far as I can tell.

300 is definitely stylized...and i think that's what draws the most criticism. I've watched it a couple times and enjoyed it both times. It's not the gladiator, but it's a solid film.

I need to see it, I hear the visuals are unbelievable. Besides, I don't usually read too much into the reviews anymore, unless it's just a complete flop.

300 is pretty sweet. Different, but awesome.

And you are right, it doesn't come close to Gladiator. But then again, nothing comes close to that movie for me.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

Really, bad reviews for 300? I honestly had heard it was pretty well received.

I definitely enjoyed the movie. Like others have said, it has its own style and stuck with the graphic novel theme (unless I'm crazy, the director or someone important was from Sin City). But I thought it absolutely nailed everything that it was going for. If that's not your thing, then great, but I loved it.

Yeah, Frank Miller wrote both 300 and Sin City. He directed Sin City.
