Little to none. We're still in a very good spot with him, although its going to be tough (and it always was going to be). He's playing damn well right now. He had 32 and 18 last night. I think its a little overblown at this point. He's rumored to be going to Meanstreets out of Chicago, which a few players from that program has had connections to WWW. But that doesn't mean he'll be involved with Dawson. And that program and WWW are associated with Nike, and Purdue is a Nike school. |

“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves." "I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

Update on this: Apparently Dawson is going to stay with the SYF program, which is different from what's been reported in the past. That's the same AAU program that Moore, Hummel, and Martin played for. |

The guy picked last in gym class

What does your gut tell you...more likely to get Marrero or Dawson? From what I've heard, both are ultra talented. I think Dawson may have more talent, but I think Marrero has a better head for the game and is more of a team player. |

BTW, here are Dawson and Marrero's stats for games that have been posted in a local paper. I know that they aren't in the same grade...but I expect them to pretty much play the same position in college so I'm not sure they would both want to end up at the same school. Marrero: 16 games; 98 of 188 from the field (52%); 4 of 13 from the field (31%); 50 of 77 from the line (65%); 165 rebounds (10.3); 250 points (15.6 ppg); 43 steals (2.7), 47 blocks (2.9); 26 assists (1.5). Dawson stats are much more incomplete and I'm not sure how well the totals can be trusted. They've only posted stats from about half his games...26.3 ppg, 94 of 142 from the field (65%), 7 of 11 from 3, 56 of 90 from the line (62%), 16.5 rpg, 4.3 steals, 2.1 assists, 2.7 blocks. Again, I'm not sure I trust their posted stats...they had their team with 52 rebounds in an opening 59-56 win, which doesn't seem kosher. Anyway, I can tell you that Lew Wallace runs their offense completely through Dawson while Marrero is surrounded by quite a bit of talent and doesn't have to score that much for them to win (Bowman is 19-1, Wallace is 14-7..Bowman is only a 1A school as they are a small charter school in Gary (cough *basketball factory*). Interestingly, Bowman and Lew Wallace don't play each other...lot of bad blood between the Gary public schools and Bowman as Bowman is pulling their talent from the other Gary schools. |

More likely to get Dawson, but whoever gets Marrero, will be pleased. Its going to be tough to find schollies for anymore 2012 kids, and him and Dawson play the same spot. I'd be pleased with either. A 2012 kid to watch is Gary Harris. He's been playing great lately and there are some people around the state who think he may be the best guard prospect in that class. His mother Joy Holmes played basketball for the Purdue women's teams in the 80s. |

I think if Marrero could grow a couple more inches, he could be a very special player...not sure that he will. He's still a hell of a player. |
