Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Syracuse will probably move to #1 with a win tonight. Purdue will drop to at least #4. If we lose, it could go as low as 6-8.
This is the question: are voters voting based on past performance or future predicted peformance, or a combination?

My opinion is that the ranking should reflect past performance. Why would Purdue drop if they don't lose?
Hummel's injury will undoubtedly play a role. And I think it should, I think the rankings are a combo of both past performance and future capabilities.

Knowing that Hummel won't play, its hard to put Purdue very high.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

God, we have got to be the most cursed team ever.

I think if Hummel played the whole game at Minny, we would have won by 15ish, and then a convincing home win against MSU.

Those two things, coupled with 1 and 2 losing, and you never know what the pollsters would think.
Try to put things into perspective Cam. You weren't the Celtics and had your first pick die before he played a game, and your team didn't die during a plane crash. What happened to Robbie is unfortunate, but this stuff happens allllllll the time in sports. It's part of it.

Quit acting like God or whoever you believe in is trying to destroy your life through his hatred of Purdue basketball. Take your advice you just gave to Brum.
Things are in perspective.

We were ranked #3, and #1 and 2 lost (#2 to a team we beat). We would have had a convincing road win over a solid team plus a probable home win over a top 15 team. That gives us a legit claim to the #1 ranking, and the inside track to a #1 seed.

Do you not think that that is not big time? Purdue has NEVER been ranked #1 in the country. And Purdue is not a dominant team this year, so tournament seeding is of the upmost importance.

The God thing was a figure of speech. Obviously, whatever God that people believe in could care less what happens to Purdue basketball or college basketball in general.

Now, without Hummel (and this is in perspective), we aren't going to the Final Four. We don't have the horses to do so without an extreme amount of luck. Thats reality. I like our team and players, but Hummel makes it all work at the level that it was. Without it, we are a Sweet 16 team at max.
