Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

No, I hadn't seen that! That's huge! I would have bet money that Johnson'd be outta here...especially before Rob's injury. That's pretty exciting!

Hale definitely not coming then? Any remote possibility he'd walk on for a year?

I didn't think either would before the season started. IMO both were late 2nd rounders at best. With a big year next year, Johnson could maybe make his way to being a late 1st round pick.

Read something that said once you sign the LOI that walking on is out. DC would know......and will be happy to share with us. ;)

Regardless, I'm just pumped to have the Trio back again for another shot. Makes the end of this season already seem a touch better.

Another question: a friend was asking me if it would be possible to split say Byrd and Smith's schollies to give Hale one. Obviously I wouldn't want that to happen to either of those players and would be irate if Painter did it. This is purely a theoretical question. Is that possible? I know other D1 sports split schollies all the time, but I've never heard of it in basketball/football. Is there an actual rules reason for that? Anyone know of a past case that happened? Again, not speculating anything, just curious about the rules.

Yeah, I don't think think that Hale could be a walk-on his first season.

There have been instances where seniors have paid their last season to make room (Varnado at MSU, Willie Dean at Purdue). There's a rumor that there is a player on schollie now willing to do so, so we shall see.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

"I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

I had a feeling that all of them would come back. Especially now, with Rob out. With Rob at full strength this team will be dominant next year..............

Figured those two would come back for one more crack at a final four run with Hummel. Kind of sucks for the rest of the big 10.

Good call. I guess they both realized making a NC run would be more fun than flipping burgers or selling tires.

Would be great news for Purdue and the Big Ten. Must say, I am a little surprised they weren't scared off the the NBA by Hummel's injury.

Moore wasn't going to get drafted this year and probably won't next year either unless it's late in the 2nd round. 2 guards like him are a dime a dozen. That being said I do think he gets invited to play for some team, just not as a draft pick.

Johnson I have a feeling realized that the only reason he'd leave would be for the money, however unless he goes in the first round (which wasn't all that likely) he wasn't guaranteed a dime. Plus, he is far from a complete player and would be getting drafted on potential alone.

I understand that, but seeing a guy like Hummel go down with a season ending injury can really put things in perspective. Guys might ask themselves what would happen if they have a season ending injury next year, when they are seniors. Would you rather get drafted in the 2nd round or not at all???
