so, this was encouraging...where it's been, effort wise, last 6 weeks i won't touch...but this is some of what crossed my mind while watching... 1 - elston (and no evil, you've not been the only one saying this for a good part of the year) needs to and should have seen more court time. hopefully he finishes strong the last 2/3 games and that can prove a nice springboard into 2010-2011. 2 - more on elston...why did crean play him at the five when pritch and capo had four each...all that did was pretty much assure he picked up 2 fouls playing out of position. bawa should have gone in. i actually thought he did alright (very low expectations) the last few minutes he got in. 3 - capo's the big man next year as it stands, whether we like it or not. sure his shot was off tonite...but he took the open looks (has shown he can hit the 3), believing he can make them (compare to prithcard). that mentality has to continue, along with work on the shot during the offseason. and of course not picking up fouls 7,834 feet from the basket. but he didn't let people score at the rim either...bad position at times, sure...but he obviously wasn't physically okay with that 4 - the line-up next year should be elston, watford and capo along the frontline (as posted months ago...i would have liked to have seen this months ago) with hulls/rivers at point and creek/jones at the off position (herein lies the problem with jones and creek on the court at the same time. e.g. jones looked great at times this game focusing on the offense (which is all he does really) but if he can't bring that same attitude every time down the court on the offensive end then it starts to become a liability. 5 - PU actually looked gassed on a few occasions (not a good sign for the tourney, along with asking kramer to spell hummel) when IU looked fresh...very good to see. 6 - what the hell was that dumes experiment? please, none of this next year. i.e. no pritchard for 20 games when he offers no hope for the future and no dumes for senior run-in just because he's a senior. big time DI hoops is big time...it's a business...for better or worse. 7 - watford needs to and should work on his post game, but he also needs to be employed more as a face-up player. i feel like he's being asked to play too much out of position...which may benefit in the long-run but can't end up being the norm. 8 - turnovers...will these "stop" next year? rivers? watford? rivers senior leadership? jones? c'mon... 9 - i think we'll struggle first half of next b10 season (2-7 or so)...but i look for a strong finish (maybe 5-4 or 6-3 on the back 9) and that is what needs to happen (mentally and physically) if we're going to turn this around anytime soon. alright...i could write a book on this shite that nobody would read...so i'll stop here and thank my small readership for their time...if not agreement :goiu: :chug: :chug: :chug: |

dumes is a senior this year, so you won't have to worry about him next year. |

Personally i thought Crean should have played more Zone. I know the score was out of reach when he went to it but it slowed us down and without hummel were not a good outside shooting team at all. Just a thought. |

I was really impressed with Hulls shot. He has a very fast release. I think he might be in the running to take over Diebler's spot as the top marksman in the league...after Hummel graduates next year, of course! |

I know I'm NOT the only one who has advocated more playing time for Elston and a bigger lineup. Just another one of Crean's questionable decisions. I wonder how many consecutive double digit losses it will take before some people on here question Crean.......15?......30?........sometime in 2015? It's nice to see that Alford is 6-0 vs the top 25, and has a top 10 program in just a few years, even though most of you said he sucks as a coach. I'm convinced he would have won more than 15 games at IU over the past 2 seasons. Edited by Evilempire, Mar 4 2010, 10:00 AM.

Congrats on blatantly lying to act like you are smarter than others. |

“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves." "I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel
