Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

If Duke loses in the ACC tournament and we win ours, think we earn ourselves a #1 seed? It would mean Ohio State and Michigan State lose obviously. K-State's out of it. Only Duke and West Virginia would really be in the conversation, and WVU would need to win the Big East tournament to really have any hope (which they won't). I think if we go in there and knock off two of MSU, OSU, and Wisconsin, we should have rights to that last #1 seed.

In the end though, Duke will probably get it. They don't seem to care about the BTT final game, and their jersey's say Duke. I'd love to be in their bracket though.

Maker, I think we should be happy with our #2 and not have a huge target on our chests. This team is a bit shaky w/o Rob, and I don't want the added pressure of a #1. I admit this is kind of a pussy attitude, but the difference between playing a #4 and #3 in the 3rd round isn't a big deal, IMO. Maybe this team will surprise me and find a way to get to the Final Four, but at this point I would be happy with another S16 berth.

Question... Why does Ohio State get the number one seed in the BTT? How do they decide that?

The tie-breaker is the record against all teams tied. If MSU wins, then Ohio State is 2-1 against Purdue and MSU, Purdue is 2-2, and MSU is 1-2, hence that order. If MSU loses, then Purdue and Ohio State are tied at 1-1 against each other. The tiebreaker then goes to the common record against the next highest opponent. That would be Michigan State, who Purdue is 1-1 against while OSU is 1-0. And there you go.

I suppose I can understand that thought process, but I don't agree with it. I don't think there's much of a difference in pressure just from being the #1 seed. The path is definitely easier, but the bigger factor is that it guarantees we don't see the top echelon of teams till Indy. Even without Rob, I feel like we have a solid chance against any team not Kansas, UK, or 'Cuse. Unless we get in the bracket of that fourth #1, one of those 3 teams would almost certainly end our run. And I've started to bounce back from the injury and get excited about this season before booking my tickets to the Final Four next year.

Ok, I just wasn't sure how they came to that if MSU lost since we are 1-1 against each other. Thanks.

No problem. I was pretty curious about the same thing this afternoon, so I looked it up.

Congrats.

Honestly, I would prefer to be the 2 seed as opposed to the 1 this year in the BTT. I don't think MSU has been playing particularly well...4-4 in their last eight and they've been outscored in that stretch.

Thanks, Brum, I agree. IU had a nice OT win today, and hopefully they can build on that to get 1-2 BTT wins.

I figured we'd shock everyone and win the whole tournament.
