Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

on subject, gordon hayward has risen to the lottery section of many mock draft boards with none other than the Pacers selecting him. it'd take a series of horrendous workouts for him to withdraw his name at this point..
At some point the Pacers better damn well decide to get a little athleticism on the team.
i'm not convinced that larry bird realizes that it's not the 80's anymore. in his press conference he called troy murphy the best player on the roster. either that's a disgustingly sad statement about the talent on the roster, a delusion, or a pure misunderstanding of basketball. bird might be the worst GM in all of sports, and i wouldn't be surprised to see him jump at some PR bait like Gordon Hayward. let's face it, tyler hansbrough was a PR move too and oddly enough it's worked so far. pacers fans love hansbrough on the whole despite missing most of the season. if that would have been any typical black rookie he would have been lambasted as a bust and a chicken for not playing.

We commonly refer to that as Hoosier-Gomer Syndrome :D

it's true. butler had a dedicated, but small, fan base until their final four run this year. literally, until the final four. more than half the people from Indy weren't even watching their first 3 games.
sounds like laker fans

I'm confused. Did you and bri use your scheduled "date night" to walk around Indy and do a poll on this? Or are you both just throwing out ridiculous numbers with NO factual basis behind them? If you two lovers want to argue that Butler had no fanbase before the final four run, how about some evidence?

Ok Assclown,

Capacity of Hinkle Field-house 11,043 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hinkle_Fieldhouse

Attendance of Horizon League championship game at Hinkle 6,065 http://espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=300682086

Hmmm all those fans and 6,065 fans made it to the Horizon title game

I don't think that the people rooting for Butler to win the title were trying to be die-hard Butler fans. I think most of them saw a good story, and decided to throw some support to the hometown school while they were doing something special. I actually thought it was pretty neat that the city really came out in force and showed support.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

+1

I didn't go out and buy any Butler gear but i sure was rooting for them to win. I would have rather seen them win the whole thing versus any other team in the final four.

DC, if you're going to talk reasonable, I'm going to have to ask you to do it on your side of the board. Thanks!

+ 2, is this allowed.

Most of the state of Indiana was cheering for them. I do think that most of the fanbase in the state of Indiana is covered by IU and Purdue. I don't have actual figures but I would say (IMO) approximately 55% are IU fans, approximately 35% are Purdue fans, approximately 5% are ND fans, and the rest are either Butler, BSU, ISU, and other. Those numbers could be off +/- 5%.

Dedicated,

I think IU has higher numbers and ND Football is higher than 5%. Purdue is lower than 35%.

Good to know that all 6,065 fans at the Horizon fieldhouse were Butler fans. Next year I hope they allow other teams some tickets.
