Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

I don't think that the people rooting for Butler to win the title were trying to be die-hard Butler fans. I think most of them saw a good story, and decided to throw some support to the hometown school while they were doing something special. I actually thought it was pretty neat that the city really came out in force and showed support.

it's true. butler had a dedicated, but small, fan base until their final four run this year. literally, until the final four. more than half the people from Indy weren't even watching their first 3 games.
I'm confused. Did you and bri use your scheduled "date night" to walk around Indy and do a poll on this? Or are you both just throwing out ridiculous numbers with NO factual basis behind them? If you two lovers want to argue that Butler had no fanbase before the final four run, how about some evidence?
Ok Assclown,

Capacity of Hinkle Field-house 11,043 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hinkle_Fieldhouse

Attendance of Horizon League championship game at Hinkle 6,065 http://espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=300682086

Hmmm all those fans and 6,065 fans made it to the Horizon title game
Not really sure what that proves??? How many Butler fans live out of state and can't go to every game? How many people have graduated from Butler in the schools existence? Seems to reason that most Butler graduates would likely be "fans" of the school?

Don't you think Purdue had a bigger "fan" following this year due to their perceived chances to make a Final Four run?

Quit being a hypocrite......

What

They said during the FF Butler has 40,000 living alum

I have no clue if Purdue had Bandwagon fans in Indy. Since it is a Bandwagon town I assume they did. I do not live in Indiana so it is hard to know.

So, in your estimation, all graduates from Butler live in Indiana? Not quite sure how you come to that conclusion?

You graduated IU? Do you live in Indiana?

If I pulled for Butler to beat Michigan State in the title game, does that make me a fan of them?

Or is it possible that I like college basketball and am going to root for one team over another when I watch it? Can I root for Gardner Webb to beat Kentucky without being a Gardner Webb fan?

There's a difference between being a bandwagon fan and simply pulling for a team to win.

iucoltfan, are you trying to say that the majority of the people celebrating butler's success were butler fans before this season? that's crazy.

This final four was the epitome of Indy bandwagon fandom. Butler has trouble selling out their own home games....yet, all of a sudden, the entire town are mega-fans.

Butler will soon return to mediocrity and everyone will forget about them. count on it.

Well, I don't think anyone in Indy claimed to be "mega-fans" as you put it. Lots of people threw their support behind a program that achieved something great. It was a fun time around the city, and people decided to enjoy it and support the local team.

And Butler hasn't been mediocre in a decade, so I highly doubt they are going anywhere.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

"I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

shame on indy for supporting a team that has kids that go to class, have 2 academic all americans, and never a sniff of any type of cheating.

they should have just stayed home.

and with the recruiting success stevens has had, i highly doubt they become irrelevant any time soon. keep hoping though

and i will ask you. since your man crush Btown cant answer it. what town isnt bandwagon fans? i will give ya green bay. now list all these others. cant wait to see

I agree. The term 'bandwagon' fan is thrown around incorrectly way too much.

capacity at hinkle is about 10,500 since the addition of press area

and dont look at seating capacity when showing how many people are there. thats how many PAID. example. there were no tickets for the ohio state game. yet attendance was 9300.

there was about 8500 at the horizon championship game. and partly the reason attendance wasnt sold out more often was every home game was televised locally

as stated, look at keadys last few years at turdue. they couldnt give away tickets. now?
