Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

In related news to this thread, Gordon Hayward has moved up a lot of draft boards into the 14-20 range; as I've said, if the Pacers are choosing and he's on the board he could go in the lottery very easily.
God i hope not.
obviously workouts haven't started yet, and he hasn't even hired an agent, but i'd go so far as to say if the Pacers don't pick him i'd be stunned.

As stunned as you were when Butler made the championship game and had some fans?

i wasn't stunned about either. butler played good team basketball and got on a roll down the stretch. they weren't the best or most talented team, but they peaked at the right time. it was pretty easy to tell that after the Syracuse game that this was no fluke.

as far as fans go, it of course didn't surprise me that a lot of people in indy came out to support them. i'm sure a lot of people in bloomington supported IU when they went to championships even if they didn't go to IU. the same can be said for any town. the only other comment i've made on their fan base is that the loyal ones are "small, but dedicated". is that not an accurate statement?

did i? from a small sampling of my friends there were quite a few who jumped on the butler bandwagon at full steam. there's nothing wrong with that, how else do you build team-fan relationships when your alumni base is small? it happens with many teams. it just makes me want to throw up a little bit when the guy i saw wearing a UNC shirt last season is wearing a Butler shirt this season. not my particular way of supporting a team, but to each his own.

So now people from Blooming are allowed to be fans even if they didn't go to IU? I'm sure glad they are relaxing those "real fan rules" for all the non-IU attendees.

you could argue that they still jumped on the bandwagon due to the success of the team. no fan base is free of bandwaggoners. hell, schools like IU and other large basketball-rich institutions see a large audience of fans that are suddenly attracted to their team due to performance. cough kentucky.

Did you really see some of Butler's supposed "fans" wearing UNC shirts last year? Or is that just another of your ridiculous unprovable statements?

actually yes. that was just one piece of anecdotal evidence. i have quite a few friends who supported butler because they were from indy, were winning, and the whole david vs. goliath thing -- or some mixture of those three.

then your "friends" are d-bags.......don't blame that on the real Butler fans. Get new friends.

I guess, by your analogy, that anyone who didn't attend Butler or Duke should not have watched the game or rooted for either team then.......that makes a lot of sense.
