I found this little bit of info that a 7-1 JUCO with a 7-6 wingspan is suppose to visit IU this weekend. Does anyone know who it is or have any info. His picture is on peegs.com if anyone can look at him and recognize him. I sure hope he isn't another Tijan Jobe. If Crean is dead set on getting inside help next year, for the sake of the 2012 class, I hope it is a JUCO. Here is the little bit of info I have: 7-foot-1 juco to visit Indiana Mike Pegram Peegs.com & Inside Indiana Multiple sources confirm to Peegs.com that Indiana will receive a visit this weekend from a 7-foot-1 junior college player with an imposing 7-foot-6 wingspan. Can the Hoosiers find some late help for next season's interior defense? |

His name is Guy-Marc Michel. He has an offer from CU so one could conclude that McClain has a hand in this. No thank you. http://indiana.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=2&pr_key=103966 |

Thanks for the link BTown. I agree, No Thanks. If he isn't a highly recruited top 20 JUCO, Crean should just avoid him. He probably is another Tijan Jobe. |

Hoosier Daddy?!

If IU gets both Offutt and and Negedu as walk-ons, than I say move on to the 2011 class. As SirBri said, this sounds like Tijan Jobe 2.0. Crean even said before that IU doesn't need anymore learners. He needs guys who can come in and produce. |

I think SirBri was wanting Crean to bank the scholly until the 2012 class, to give us 4 available for that class. If we get someone for the 2011 class, then we only have 3 available, unless someone transfers. I would use the scholarship for 2011 only if someone transfers. |

this from the gonzaga trackers on michel: Positives: The first thing that you notice when watching Guy-Marc is that he is very fluid for a 7'1 athlete. He runs the floor with ease, and I even it even looks like he is gliding when he runs the court. This was a pleasant surprise, as many guys his size tend to labor when they are forced to run the court. The area where Guy-Marc really thrives is on the defensive end of the court. He uses his great size and tremendous wing-span to guard every shot that is taken. He also possesses excellent timing on his shot-blocking which allows for him to deflect many shots that other players his size wouldn't. It is clear he is most comfortable on this end of the court, as he is very vocal with his teammates, and controls everything in the paint. Michel is also a fundamentally solid rebounder. Immediately after any shot goes up, he locates a body and boxes out the man. Negatives: While there is no denying the tremendous force that Guy-Marc is on the defensive end, his offensive game is about as raw as I have seen. While he is vocal and confident with his teammates on the defensive side, Michel appears to be timid and doesn't demand the ball in the set offense. The NIC was frustrating to watch, because many times, Michel would only receive the ball at the top of the key, where he was clearly uncomfortable. The interesting aspect of Michel's offensive game is that he actually has a decent post game. There were two separate occasions where NIC was able to get Michel isolated with his back-to-the-basket, and both times he was able to finish with ease. I was most impressed by a beautiful baby hook he was able to score over his defender from the left block. It seemed that he could hit this shot any time he wanted, but instead he allowed himself to be a bystander in the NIC offense. honestly, i can't say 'no' straight away. i'm assuming the zags people slightly embellished his positives, but wow does that at least sound like something the hoosiers desperately need on the defensive side of the ball. and if he just clears up the offensive boards a bit...something else the hoosiers desperately lacked...then offensively he may not be a complete waste. his jc stats are way better than jobe's. i'd say at least a jobe 3.5. |

don't know if i can agree with you on this one b'town. jobe could run the court...but if we are equating mobility with even the vaguest notions of coordination and awareness in movement...then no, jobe did not possess this. i don't think he could really play defense either. but yes, he was extremely raw offensively. |
