Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Shouldn't this be a positive for IU? Many of you guys have said that the 2012 class is the future of the IU basketball program. And this signing in essence adds another 2012 scholarship to IU's allotment. Michel's scholarship will be up in 2012, and it keeps Crean from using that scholarship in 2011.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

Crean is the Western Kentucky Coach??? when did that happen??
Right after McCain's inaugaration.

Hadn't really looked at it like that.

I think Evil's stance is as it always was. He should bank the scholly in case there are any late bloomers/decommits in 2011, that are actually not projects. In this instance i actually agree with him, though i had not thought of the angle you just presented.
Personally i still would have waited, but i am not going to get all outraged about it. He will be off the book for 2012, and FWIW from what i have read he is a project on the offensive end, but he is pretty good defensively and is a solid rebounder.

All in all, if in his senior year he can give us good minutes while averaging 6-8pts, 10 rebs, and 2-3 block a game while allowing elston and watford to move over to more natural positions i will be happy with giving him the scholly - though with our luck with big men he will probably average half of what Pritch did last year in every category.

Nobody in the Big Ten last year averaged that many rebounds.

It just means that Crean can sign more mediocre players in 2012

Around 20 or 25.

Hell if he would give us 8 i would be fine. that would still be double what Pritchard is giving us.

It's easy to look good defensively when you are 7-1 and playing in the juco ranks.

Now we are at a point with Crean where we are happy he is signing a mediocre guy to keep him from signing a different mediocre guy?...........good lord.

If everyone says its so common to have transfers and such, then why would we be worried about Crean signing a guy in 2011 that is actually a good player? Wouldn't someone else just transfer, or be told to leave, which would open up another spot for the 2012 class? There is absolutely no logic in signing this guy unless he is Dean Garrett 2.0. 10 rebounds per game?........he better be getting more than 6-8 points if he is that dominant on the boards between put backs and free throws.

Crampy came up with the angle, and I put it in question form. If anyone agrees with him on this, then they should give up their IU fan card immediately and be subjected to running laps and shooting free throws with Purdue fans.

Most of those guys are from small conferences, against smaller competition..........not very many major conference guys average double digit rebounds.

I amended it to 8. And i was giving some baseline numbers that would make me happy with the situation in 2 years - not making a prediction as to what his number would be.

As a matter of fact i said that knowing our luck he will probably end up with less than Pritchard in every category

I don't think luck will have anything to do with it............it's a 7-1 juco.

Funny you should say something because he was actually WKU's assistant head coach for 4 years.

Why are you on this side of the board again??

Oh wait, there's never any news about Purdue. Now I remember.
