in that they would enable the big ten conference to hold one. all you need is one additional D1 level football program and you can start holding the game. that's the whole reason expansion started. i highly doubt the conference really cares WHO they add as long as they add someone so that they can make the $$$ associated with a conference championship game. |

Agreed. And if there is another couple weeks to the season i might actually shell out the extra money for the sports package so i can get BTN |

yeah you would have to be blind to not see that. Look at the revenue that the ACC, Big 12, and SEC generate for their conference games. |

The guy picked last in gym class

Other things come with a conference championship besides increased revenue. Every year the Big Ten season finishes before the other conferences and starts becoming a footnote. A borderline Big Ten BCS team can sometimes get passed in the last week or two while they sit idle. Additionally, you now allow for the conference races to last longer as one team can't runaway with the title. |

I've never seen that happen. What i have seen is Ohio St win the BigTen and set idle for a couple weeks knowing they are going to be in the NC because they dont have to worry about a conference championship game |

Just happened to be watching Espn and they had Andy Katz on and some schools he mentioned that hadnt really been talked about were, Maryland, GT and Vanderbilt. Vandy does make some sense if you consider they academic record. |

seems like it's going to happen...just a question of exactly how many and who. i guess i'd have to rank the mentioned possibilities as: 1 - pitt - already a natural rivalry with psu, good fball and bball, decent academics 2 - mizzou - reinforces illinois rivalry, pretty much all the same other criteria as pitt as well 3 - notre dame - outside of nd being nd and the way they want things to be...it just makes a lot of sense 4 - vandy - NU needs a private school rivalry. great academics, passable athletics - plus nashville market 5 - maryland - can only help crean's apparent evolving dc recruiting base 6 - rutgers - great academics, nyc market, and they wouldn't finish last in both fball and bball 7 - syracuse - i actually think this would be a huge coup for the big10 if they pull it off...disregarding geography, this could easily be the top draw 8 - uconn - this doesn't seem likely to me. but a solid second north northeast option to the 'cuse if that's the direction 9 - GT - certainly opens up a whole new geographic market. decent school and sports. but lots of things don't make sense... 10 - nebraska - what can i say, i just don't like nebraska... |

Yes, IU's football program is worse than Syracuse's. |

“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves." "I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

So, I read none of this thread, and I think that the B10 conference should not add any teams. |
