I will laugh my fucking ass off.   I hope he goes. He is bad for college basketball and for Kensucky, but they do deserve each other. If you dance with the devil, you will get burnt. Now Kensucky has made their bed and they need to lie in it. |

Maybe Calimari will take the job and hire Krispy as an assistant to bring in D Wade. That would solve everybody's problems. |

Kentucky fan quote of the day: "I dont understand why u think its the downfall of Kentucky... Isnt the job of any University, UK included, to prepare young people for their future??? Isnt getting you your dream job the idea??? So coach Cal gets young kids prepares them and in one year there getting an offer for their dream job. If you were going into your sophmore year in maketing and the biggest marketing company offered you a top position for loads and loads of money and you accept.. you dont have a degree but UK would have done there job right??? gotten you your dream job and tons of money... so if your going to UK for basketball and you get your dream job after 1 year how has Coach Cal or UK failed the student in anyway." I'm guessing that this guy didn't see the recent academic reports?? What a dumbass! |

No, actually his point is completely correct. His assumption is that the players are going to school and truly majoring in basketball. Their GPA in the who-gives-a-fuck major is irrelevant since they're going to school for basketball. And because they got a job in their true major so quickly, they and the university has succeeded. So there's nothing wrong with his logic. Now, there's an exceptionally large problem with his removal of even the facade of the student half of student-athlete, but that's completely separate. |

Correct. So why would these kids be eligible for scholarships if that is their true intent? Why should a more deserving student be denied a chance to actually be productive to society by getting an education? This issue should really be addressed by the NCAA. Maybe the answer should be that if a kid leaves after his first or second season for the NBA, he should have to reimburse the university for the cost of his stay? Especially at a state institution. Maybe the kids should be paid in the first place? Maybe they just scrap the bullshit rule of 1 year in college? I don't know the answers, but all of these questions should be addressed, imo. |

From the school's perspective, these kids bring in an incredible amount of money and publicity to the school, so an investment of 15k/yr scholarship pays for more scholarships and labs and professors for the other students. This makes fiscal sense for the university. Since that's the case though, I don't like the illusion they so desperately maintain that these kids are students first. Its obviously not true for a large portion of the players. I like the idea that if you leave to play professional ball in the first two years, you're responsible to reimburse your costs. The money's not that important, but it reprioritizes their time at the school as that of a student. As for the 1-and-done, that's a giant load of horse shit and everyone knows it. When can the NCAA and NBA get together and renegotiate that? |

This is all sweet music to my ears. When will anyone ever learn you cant trust Calipari as far as you can throw him. Anyone that doesnt believe he is a complete egomaniac is a complete fool. He will go for the biggest name on the biggest stage. He's probably tired of messing around with small fry in the NCAA. It would be like an ambitious high school coach tired of dominating the high school scene. Calipari wants to go straight to the top, and he's already got great relationships with all the young players in the league and all the agencies they are associated with. Calipari already has money, but no fame or rings. Big markets like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, etc are all places that would attract Calipari like shit does to flies. I hope for the NCAA's sake of watching one man monopolize the recruiting scene that Calipari goes to the NBA. |

And we all know that when Calapari starts talking exit strategies, there is trouble around the corner. |
