Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

what a horrible fucking day.
Were either really seen as major contributors?
They were seen as small contributors with no scholarships wasted....and at this point it looks like we could have wasted two years on a guy who might not contribute.
Well, from what I've gathered, the 2012 recruiting class is IU's most important class, and that signing doesn't affect the 2012 class (it actually may help it because it keeps a 2011 player from holding a scholarship). Not sure what the concern is, unless that the 2012 class really isn't the end all be all of Crean's tenure.
We still will be playing basketball in 2010 and 2011...so losing guys who might make minor contributions does have an affect, especially if there was no cost.
Well, I think that Negedu playing in an IU uniform could have been very, very costly. I know many of you thought he should have been allowed to play, but his physical ailments could have been both costly and tragic. I really commend IU for taking a stand.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

"I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

my stance is that he is going to play SOMEWHERE, i would rather him play somewhere where he's constantly being monitored by cardiologists. like i've said, every member of our team could have the same ailment for all we know..

+1.

IMO the administration didn't acquit itself by making any kind of "ethical stand" or any shite like that.

taking a stance would be looking past ailments that would seem to prevent someone from doing something they love and providing them with absolutely the best support possible. who cares how you look in the public eye if you did what you thought was right?

FYI, Negedu has committed to play at New Mexico. Good for him.

Here is what I found posted on Zagsblog:

Emmanuel Negedu, a 6-7, 220-pound sophomore forward originally from Nigeria, has landed at New Mexico.

“Yes, Emmanuel has committed to New Mexico,” Brewster (N.H.) Academy coach Jason Smith wrote by text. “He hasn’t signed [scholarship] papers yet. He will on Monday.”

Negedu, the 2008 New Hampshire Gatorade Player of the Year, also visited Indiana.

He sat out last season at Tennessee after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest on Sept. 28, 2009 and having a sub-pectoral internal cardiac defibrillator (ICD) implanted in his chest on Oct. 6. Negedu remained on full scholarship, attended practices and traveled with the team.

Now he will suit up at New Mexico.

“New Mexico has cleared him to play,” Smith said. “He will hopefully receive a waiver and play immediately, since he sat this year. He has three years of eligibility left.”

It wouldn't shock me to see Alford turn this kid into a very good player.

I'm happy that he found a place that will allow him to do what he wants to do.
