Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Per Crean via Twitter: "Recruiting is like Life in some respects. For instance waiting can be the hardest part. Some times waiting is well worth it. Productive day"

Any speculations on who he is talking about?

i fear he is talking about michel.

even if michel turns out to be serviceable...this kind of recruit isn't going to get the job done in the long haul.

lets not sell this off as a bad signing. i think it is a good move. we need someone to step in and take rebounds and perform some serviceable defense. this 7-1 guy might fit the bill. he is also only here for 2 years.

im not to upset with this signing...but...i want to see him play first. God i hope he isn't another jobe

IU needs this guy because they plan on making a run this year? This signing does 2 things that are awful in my opinion.

1. It potentially leaves fewer minutes for the other big men to improve.

2. It makes it difficult for Crean to sign an impact player from the 2011 class because his focus is on the 2012 class......well, atleast it should be.

At this point, I've completely lowered my expectations of competence expected from Crean. If he doesn't land a big class in 2012, especially because he burns scholarships on more mediocre talent in 2011, he should be and will be canned.

Who the hell else would he be talking about? It wouldn't be Davis or Zeller. Now that would have been a productive day. That comment by Crean proves to me that he settles, instead of playing the waiting game.

I do want to throw this question out: How many think at this point and time that Crean is the right man for the job and will take us to elite status in the B10 and Nationally? I believe after all this, it is less than what it was this time last year or even after the start of last season.

After witnessing what has happened since he got here, only a true Crean homer would still believe that. He can't even teach one of his interior projects 1 freaking post move.

all i am reading is a bunch of fucking cry babies that think indiana can pull at top big guy from the high school ranks. all you guys that think indiana has the pull it did back in the 70's and 80's are fucking blind.

this is BETTER than what we currently have. indiana has to show that they are getting better and trying to compete. once they show that they can compete, those high school kids might actually want to come to indiana to play again.

IU won 6 games and was able to land guys like Creek and Watford.

Even after the last 2 seasons, IU has strong interest from some really talented kids in the 2012 class. Your theory of accepting mediocre players because nobody worth anything wants to come to IU holds no water. Kentucky had sanctions and such but were still able to land a guy like Jamal Mashburn.

So we are just supposed to sit here and continue to let Crean waste scholarships on mediocre projects that won't even be here long enough to make much of an impact? Sorry, true fans can't stand watching their team go down in flames because of self inflicted garbage.

Evil please list the players you think crean has offered Schollies to???

I have the following list

2008
Roth recruited BOMK by Sampson
Tom P recruited BOMK by Sampson
VJIII recruited by Crean not a waste
Malik Story recruited by Crean transferred so no big impact
Nick Williams recruited by Crean transferred so big impact
Dumes and Jobe recruited by Crean both are off the books They where there for two seasons that IU had to rebuild.

2009

Bawa a project but still not a proven wasted schollie
Creek not a wasted schollie
Rivers a transfer player from a legit program with FF experience
Watford a serious talent
Elston seems like a fan favorite hard to say it is wasted
Hulls a Indiana MR Basketball
Capo ok a questionable signing

2010
Victor
Will
and this 7ft 1 in Juco

it is obvious Crean tried very hard to sign serious talent in 2010 and IU was not the desired location.

Daniel Moore is not on schollie neither is Fink.

IU had to start over at ground zero. 16-17 wins is a possibility in the upcoming season for IU.

You will be able to sign 4 players in 2012. I agree this signing was betting against signing in 2011. Crean must be very onfident with the 2012 class and wanted four schollies.

Saying Bawa isn't a proven wasted scholarship kind of puts your opinion in perspective. He couldn't even get on the floor with underperformers like Capo, Pritchard, and Jobe as his only competition at the 5. Now he has signed another project. I've already stated the wasted scholarship list in another thread.......and yes, if you basically tell a kid to leave after 1 season because he isn't going to get minutes.....that's a wasted scholarship because you signed him instead of bringing someone else in. Just because a guy was offered by Sampson doesn't mean it isn't Crean's fault for keeping them here. Did Calipari keep all of Billy Bob's signed recruits?

WOW using Coach Cal as your benchmark for how to do things right????

Jobe was not a wasted schollie. IU had no one else to sign for the 08 class and brought in

a six member class in 09. Would you have preferred Crean brought in 7 in 09.

During coaching changes, recruits that were signed by previous coaches are let go all the time. It's not uncommon.

Would I rather have someone who could actually contribute to the team even if it meant a 7 man class?.............absolutely. That seems like a no-brainer.
