Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Haven't read any of this thread but I will say that Guy-Marc Michel for 2 years >>>>>>>>>>> Moses Abraham for 4.
That may be true, but it's kind of like saying you banged the less ugly fat chick last night.

IU keeping another scholarship open for a potential impact 2011 player>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>than singing a juco project.

Not disagreeing with you that this guy might be a project, but the JUCO's scholarship doesn't really affect 2011. We had an extra ride to give for 2010 only that would've otherwise gone to waste. The way things stand now, two people on the current team are going to be battling for their scholarship this season and there will be a transfer at the end of the year.

(I think I have that right. Please correct me if I'm wrong.)

I guess that assumes that IU would only sign 1 impact guy in 2011.

if you dont sign the guy you also dont look like you are pushing someone out the door when you dont have any scholarships left to give out

At this point it doesn't matter what it looks like, everyone knows Crean has no problem yanking scholarships. I wonder if he gives them a parting gift............perhaps a T-shirt that says "You Got CREANED"

My point is, signing Michel or not, the scholarship situation for 2011 would likely be the same either way.

Sure...assuming no one transfers after the 2010-11 season.

But that's not gonna happen.

That's assuming nobody transfers this summer either.

And only taking a 1-man class in 2011 makes absolutely no sense.

Not if he gets LOIs from a great 2012 class.

I'm with Evil on this one. Regardless of how much sense it makes to sign a one-man class, that's the bed he's made. Kicking someone out leaves a pretty bad taste in my mouth.

I gotta go take a shower now, I feel dirty.

I'm sure Creans going to pull names out of a hat to chose who he kicks off the team. I think that's the method he chooses at least.

We've seen this song and dance with JUCO's way too often here the past 5 years. Majority of them have been a bust. Sometimes you'll snag a diamond in the rough (See Syracuse), but that's the chance you take. The guy wants to play at IU so lets give him a chance at least.

The bad taste in your mouth is from Painter shooting his load in your mouth.

Sorry Maker, couldn't resist!

Sure, but there's nothing currently to suggest that will happen. Plus, it makes our already lopsided classes even more lopsided.

Michel essentially replaced Roth in the 2008 class. With Roth, we now have a 7-man 2009 class....and we're not going to be signing a 7-man class in 2013 to replace them. That's why there is no possible way we take anything less than a 2-man 2011 class. (I think we'll oversign and ultimately end up with 3 players for 2011)...especially given how many good 2011 players are still available and showing legitimate interest in IU. Our classes need more balance and that's not a luxury Crean was afforded when he took the job.

Crean's job is to put the best possible product on the floor, given those players are also good students. That's the precedent we've set as fans and supporters. That's why we fired Sampson over phone calls with a 22-4 record and why we subsequently gutted the program. Look, you don't have to like transfers, but for now they're the unfortunate casualties of the compromise between the scholarship situation Crean was dealt and IU fans' expectations to win NOW & with certain types of players.

Until this ship gets stabilized, you can't expect to have your cake and eat it too.
