I thought Shogun won the first fight. There is no doubt about this one. Machida got a couple takedowns but Shogun immediately got up. Shogun landed a couple good shots about a minute into the round and looked like he fazed Machida, then after the second Machida takedown Shogun clipped him with a good right hook that sent Machida down, and Shogun jumped right on top of him, got mount and hit him with about 5 good shots that put Machida out cold. Machida's eye looked like someone surgically implanted a small egg right underneath it. |

Indeed he did. Matt Mitrione. There is another former Boilermaker in the UFC too. Jon Fitch. He wrestled at PU. He is ranked by most people as a top 5 welterweight in the world. |

Fitch is considered the #2 WW behind GSP. Koshcheck is going to get schooled vs. GSP and shouldnt be getting a title shot at this point. he has lost to every "good" fighter in the last 1.5 yrs. Fitch handedly beat the 2 people Koshcheck has lost to. Fitch is probably one of my fav fighters. He does everything right in the ring and taylors his game plan in order to give him the best chance to win without to much damage. very smart fighter. |

Is Fitch the fighter that gets all the flack for putting on "boring fights" ? I get on the mmalinker.com website (good fighting forum w/ videos of every fighter) And I swear it's John Fitch they always bring up for being "boring to watch". Might have the wrong fighter, but I'm pretty sure it's Fitch they bring up. Regardless... the dude can fight. I don't buy into that "boring" shit. I wasn't an MMA fan until the past 2 years. A lot of the fans are new to the sport. They just wanna see KO's and that's that. I'm not in for it for all of the training they do leading up to the fights... and every fight I love to watch. They either win because they're more technical than their opponent, or more disciplined in their respective area of martial arts. It's fun for me to watch whichever way it ends up. |

You'll probably be waiting for awhile. He just got manhandled by Jon Jones. I think he broke his collar bone in that fight too which means a fairly lengthy recovery. |

I said top 5 in regards to Fitch because there are some that have him ranked lower than two, though most have him there. Personally I think he is number 4. I think Jake Shields would beat him, and i think Thiago Alves is going to finish him in their rematch. In regards to Fitch beating the two guys that Kos lost too i will say this. Paolo Thigo beating Kos was a fluke. He was getting soundly beaten and caught him with a perfect shot. And The Thiago Alves that beat up Kos is a much different Thiago Alves that lost to Jon Fitch. At the time of the Fitch - Alves, Alves was like 20 or 21, and had zero background in wrestling. He now has very good takedown defense and a solid ground game to go along with his Muy Thai. That is why he beat Kos, but lost to Fitch. I agree that I think that Kos doesn't really deserve a shot, but who else are you going to give it to? I would love to see Kos fight fitch but that won't happen unless it is for a title, and even then it might not happen. |

They call him boring because 9 of his 13 fight in the UFC have ended by decision. The only "A" level fighter he has ever finished was Thiago Alves, and Alves wasn't an "A" level fighter at the time. Fitch is a good fighter, and he is very smart and sticks to what wins him fights but it isn't always pretty - and this is coming from a guy that loves a good technical ground battle. |

He won because Jones hit him with an illegal straight downward elbow and Hamill couldn't continue. The crappy thing is that Jones didn't realize the elbows were illegal, and Hamill couldn't continue becuase he hurt his collarbone, not because of the elbows. The fight should have probably been a no contest at worst. Even hamill said that. Before the elbow though, Jones was beating hamill in the standup, then threw him from the ground like a rag doll from the clinch - which is where Hamill hurt the collarbone - mounted him and started pounding him. |

So will Dana make Silva fight Shogun? Jon Jones schooled Hamill, and i like Hamill, but he had nothing for Jones. Kimbo should be done now. |

It's reported on Yahoo! front page today that Kimbo has already been released by the UFC per Dana White. Loved his enthusiasm towards the sport, and loved that he tried to go out and prove people wrong. He just got into the MMA scene too late in his career, and doesn't have the talent to hang with the big guys. Could easily see him being signed by Strikeforce or DREAM. That will probably happen in the very near future. As for the Shogun Rua vs Anderson Silva: There's no reason why this fight SHOULDN'T happen. Anderson's excuse for not pursuing the Light Heavyweight title was because Silva and Machida were too good of friends and have trained together. Now that Machida is out of the picture (not entirely of course)... there's no reason why Anderson wouldn't push himself to the 205 class and try to gather yet another title belt to his possession. Hes got the skill to do it. Rua vs Silva would be a badass fight in my opinion. True Brazilians going at it in a sport they helped create. It would draw a huge crowd, and pay-per-views would be off the charts. It will happen... Dana White will basically force Anderson to fight this one. And I'm sure he'll accept the challenge. The past 2 Silva fights were a JOKE for him. Literally just danced around and played with his opponent. With Rua, that won't be the case. WAR SILVA!!! |
