it still shouldn't happen. i mean, i've watched a couple of the playoff games this year. You can't seriously be trying to say that they are playing hard-nosed defense out there. br |

Well, let's see. PHX averaged 110+ for the season and now they have shortened their rotation so their best players are playing more minutes. If you combine that with playing against a team that also wants to push the pace, it is entirely reasonable to think the winning team will score 115+. These are the best basketball players in the world who have been given offensive advantages because offense sells.........just like the NFL. Don't forget about the 24 second shot clock and the fact that the ball has to be across halfcourt in less than 8 seconds. The league is doing all they can to push the pace of the game. http://www.nba.com/statistics/sortable_team_statistics/sortable1.html |

To review, 11 fewer seconds to shoot........with better shooters.......better all around offensive players....8 more minutes per game....guys who can hit incredibly tough shots consistently....etc. So you hate watching college basketball games that end up 81-73? |

And the 'best' defensive team in the league held teams to about 94 points per game, and that's not considering the pace. |

It's no different than half of the NFL QBs throwing for the once sacred 4000 yards. That has nothing to do with the rules, it's because the QBs are so much better right? At least be consistent in your thinking instead of just arguing because you don't like the NBA. |

Depends what teams you watched. Just like you can't say that playoff IND teams have played hard nosed defense. |

The fact that I've never seen you speak against it.........and you avoiding the issue now pretty much lets me know what you are thinking. You love the 34-27 NFL game compared to the 10-6 game, but chastize the NBA when the best players in the world are able to score against handicapped defenses. |

because comparing two sports is ridiculous. but if you must know, i think the way the NFL has changed is complete bullshit. The way they officiate pass interference nowadays puts a HUGE advantage in favor of the receiver. this is another example of the NFL trying to make the game "more exciting." All it is to me is disrespecting the game. couple that with the NFL doing EVERYTHING to protect qb's allows for these boosted stats. There have been so many fines given to DL's who cleanly hit QBs because of the bullshit QB-protection rules that it's taken a lot of fun out of the game. br |

OK, so the NBA is unwatchable because of the offensive advantages but we all know you watch the NFL. Comparing sports is not unreasonable, they are both making changes to increase the offensive output because more offense is exciting to the casual fan. I enjoy defensive battles in basketball as much as anyone, however, the rules simply don't allow that. If you run a pick and roll, in most cases the PG either has a clear path to the basket.......will kick to the corner guy for a semi-contested 3 because his man had to come over to help......the screener will either have a free roll to the basket or a mid range jumper....or the defender will go under the screen and the PG will have an open 3. Professionals are just too good of shooters to not capitalize on these situations. Christ, PHX shot nearly 50% from the field for the season with no real post player. Amare is more of a slashing big man who can hit 16 footers. Nash is one of the best shooters of all time. So when exactly did you like the NBA?.........when the Knicks were pushing and shoving everyone all over the court in the early 90s? |

They gave up over 95 per game in their best season when they had the top ranked defense. http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/NYK/1993.html |
