Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

watch the NBA playoffs, there are some very quality defense/defensive strategies implemented. sometimes better offense beats better defense. the NBA playoffs are one big chess match, if you don't appreciate it then, well, you don't appreciate basketball.

what i don't understand is why everyone always says, "trust me, watch the playoffs." Why do you have to wait till the playoffs to find players who actually care about defense? the straight denial of nba fans about the lack of effort and declining quality of play brought on by bullshit rule changes is borderline ridiculous.

I couldn't care less if someone is or isn't an NBA fan but personally, i find it less entertaining than the college game.

Although...nash's 1-eye game was impressive. He seems to be one of the few who go 100% every single game.

The 'bad boys' team in DET was 2nd in points allowed and 3rd in overall defensive rating and gave up over 100 per game.

Do you need to borrow a white flag?

And baseball players run hard on every ground ball. The NBA season is long, and yes, certain guys do coast from time to time until february. If you don't think guys from the best teams aren't going all out right now, then you just aren't watching. Don't base you opinion on a headcase team like ATL or DEN who quit on their coaches. LA does seem to get complacent, but they are about to face a team that knocked them out of the playoffs 2 straight years including a 3-1 comeback. If PHX shoots well, this is going to be a great series.

And I could care less if you like the NBA or not, it just irritates me when the same old tired excuses of 'they don't play hard' or whatever is said by people who really haven't watched much in the last few years.

You mean the NBA runs their offenses based on the best matchups for their team?.............how dumb. The 18 seconds or so they have to get a shot off probably has nothing to do with that right? How many college teams that run some sort of motion offense get a good shot in less than 18 seconds consistently?

To review, 11 fewer seconds to shoot........with better shooters.......better all around offensive players....8 more minutes per game....guys who can hit incredibly tough shots consistently....etc. So you hate watching college basketball games that end up 81-73?
I do if my team has the 73
Nothing beats an Astronaut

Don't base you opinion on a headcase team like ATL or DEN who quit on their coaches.
To be fair, Denver didn't quit on their coach. They quit on their assistant coach - and each other.

Speaking of quit, what do some of you think about Lebron after last night's game. All ESPN talks about is Lebron's mindset and if he has given up. With all the speculation that he is leaving for Chicago or New York and the fact that the Celtics are just flat outplaying the Cavs, does Lebron just want to get this year over with and go somewhere he thinks he can win a ring?

So when exactly did you like the NBA?.........when the Knicks were pushing and shoving everyone all over the court in the early 90s?
yup.
They gave up over 95 per game in their best season when they had the top ranked defense.

http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/NYK/1993.html
...and in the playoffs -- when teams are supposed to actually put efforts in at both ends -- they only gave up more than 95 points once in twenty-five games.

http://www.databasebasketball.com/teams/teamscores.htm?tm=NYK&yr=1993&lg=n

They gave up under 88 points per game in the playoffs.

if lebron hit those jumpers he took ESPN would be talking about how amazing LeBron was. if 15 pts 7 rbs and 8 assists is your worst game, that's not too shabby. personally if i were lebron i'd demand that mike brown be fired (there have been some clear, clear coaching mistakes by him in the playoffs). secondly, lebron needs to sit down and ask himself if the grass is really greener. if he goes to NY, no it's not, in fact he'd take a few steps back in talent level. on the other hand, CLE has spent so much time/energy/money on building the team that surrounds LeBron that they're pretty much screwed long-term especially if lebron bolts.
