That doesn't mean he ef'd up 2011. It means that recruits didn't choose IU. Butler has done a near perfect job on Zeller. Howard leaving, final 4, etc. The Butler staff now creates a buzz when they go into gyms recriting, bigger than lots of BCS schools which is unheard of. And with Davis, Izzo and MSU speaks for themselves. They have a good chance of fucking both Purdue and IU in the popper for this class. Teague was never staying home. Etherington is very good. What's the beef? This is what happens when you recriut big time players |

“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves." "I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

oh yeah, it was a very, very sloppy situation when he took over. i almost feel sorry for the man. almost. right now i view crean as the mop boy in the grocery store that's cleaning up the massive spill on aisle 9 before the real manager can come over and take a look. once again, i hope i'm totally wrong on that assessment. |

teague is whatever, i hope john calipari leaves halfway through his tenure in college or something because he's a grade A moron (teague, not calipari). anywho, don't care about zeller but it'd be nice to generate that buzz. i'm not sold on him, but i also think he's a solid player. i love jeremiah davis. seeing him not come to IU will hurt inside even though i know he probably won't. wouldn't be surprised if AE never put on an IU uniform. just throwing that out there. but if he does, i think he's a very good player and a solid pickup. |

Well the only Cal leaves half way through Teague's tenure is if Cal leaves in the middle of his freshman season. I wasn't originally sold on Zeller, but from what I've heard, he's become a monster. Nearly 7 feet, is mobile, skilled out to 20ish feet, and has a big motor. He's more Tyler than Luke, means he's big time. If butler gets him, he'll work over that conference. I still Davis goes to IU, and I think crean gets his attitude in check enough to make him a stud. |

i'll take anyone with a pulse that can play basketball well right now. including zeller. i know butler might be the popular choice right now (wait, did that just come out of my mouth?) but i don't know how long they'll be able to keep that momentum up. if anyone is willing to go there it'd be a zeller though. as far as davis goes it just seems like his relationship with MSU is much more established; but i definitely think it's a two horse race between IU and MSU. either way, the way things are going lately i don't think there's anyway he'll come here. hopefully i've pleased the basketball karma gods enough in this post to cut us a break. |

I do feel ya on Davis, I dread the day that Dawson may pick MSU. It'll be a the biggest Purdue meltdown in awhile. I think IU will be fine. I think these next two classes will provide some good players. I just hope Crean gets to coach them. |

by the way, if aaron thomas commits to IU (i hear he's a fine player) i might lose my mind. that could single handily derail a lot of the fairytale recruiting plans that fans have for IU in 2011/2012. |

I actually think the '10 IU class will be okay. Oladipo can play regardless of the scoring, he reminds me of a Lewis Jackson but on the wing. Sheehey will be useable especially if his athleticism is as advertised. I think Crean added two pieces to a puzzle he's trying to make. |

To be honest, the Thomas offer seems like a "were not getting Davis" offer. But who knows. I think Crean is good and knows what he's doing, but he is still confusing. |

i like oladipo but i guess i don't see the purpose of sheehey yet. he can do a lot of things really well, but i don't think it really addresses any impending needs. i'd be pretty surprised if he doesn't redshirt next season. that's the type of class that's really good if you have a lot of nice pieces already, but we really don't. coming into this recruiting season we needed a good presence on the interior and a rondo-esque point guard. we struck out on those two things. |

To Crean's cedit, he tried at the best of both spots. I know results matter, but IU's rep has hurt him for better or worse. I know it's hard to realize but the IU name isn't the same as it was when walk into a gym. I think Crean, growing up in the old school, thought that the name still carried more weight than it does. It's a what have you done for me lately world. |

i actually happen to believe that Kyrie Irving would be going to IU (based on things I have heard) if a certain person whose name starts with an R and ends with a Cloud never talked to him. Oh well that book has long been closed. Oh, and the name Kentucky was once believed to "hold no weight" anymore, as was Carolina, Kansas, etc., but that quickly turned around. Recruiting is based on success on the court, so I hope Crean can put some results on the board this year.. it's not like he's dealing with a bunch of scrubs anymore. |
