Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Beat the Cards 7-2 and took over at the top of the NL Central. I think they need to have a higher winning percentage to hang on, by end of the season the NL Central Champ will be over .600

Just hope the season continues the way it started. I'm tired of the losing seasons.

Great to be a Reds fan for once. I remember the Big Red Machine days and the 1990 team. This feels good. Let's hope they can keep it up.

Fuck this thread in the face.

Reds are always in first this time of the season lol. Just like the Cubbies fans. We'll be in first when it matters though, bet that.

what Reds have you been watching?

Not sure if they have the talent to hold on, but they got a strong group of young guys and its cool to see them have some success.

Dusty will run that staff into the ground. And he'll let all the players do what they want. Then a short losing streak will expand.

Dusty is a good guy, but a bad manager. He'd be a great bench coach though.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

"I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

The Reds always start the season hot then turn into the Reds by the All-Star break.

We haven't been in first place this deep into the season in 4 yrs. Try again on the reds always start off hot, it doesn't. Wins and lossed don't lie.

things are definitely lookin up in cincy. we have a very good young pitching staff, starting to come into their own. also, we still have arolydis chapman and travis woods in the minors, and arguably their best pitcher the last 2 yrs in volquez coming back in july/august. i think the pitching is what keeps them around untill we trade some youngsters for a big time bat to try an push us over the top.

I agree. I don't know what Reds games tAmazing has been watching, but we haven't been in first place this late into the season since 2006 and before that I believe it was 2002. TAmazing must be a Cardinal fan.

I dont think we need to trade for a big bat. CF is a problem right now with Stubbs, but he is a good defensive player and has started hitting decent in the 7 spot. I believe we need a hitting coach that gets them thinking right.... Stubbs should not be hitting so many fly balls. He should be focusing on GB and line drives. He has the speed to create some havoc. He is young though and will come around. Plus Gomes has been tearing the leather off the ball and we still have nix on the bench. I do not understand Dusty's love with Cairo, but we have nix on the bench. Confuses me why Cairo pinch hits every game or at least it seems like it. We also have Alonso who was just promoted to AAA. He will come around and everyone thinks that he will be a better hitter at AAA than he was at AA because the pitchers will be able to hit the strike zone with a greater efficiency. The 7-8 hitters have been hurting us lately with runners on, but everyone else has been doing great w/risp. I think ramon would be ok if we have runners at 2nd and 3rd, but when there is someone on first he almost always hits into DP (or that is the way it seems) However he is hitting at a high avg. Overall really impressed with the team to this point, but I still do not like Dusty. He makes decisions that make absolutely no sense at all. Why PH Cairo when you have either Nix or Hernandez/Hannigan sitting on the bench??? Can anyone give me some insight that will make this move ok in my mind?

Nix has been hurt with back spasms. Not on the disabled list yet, but they are taking it day to day. I was wondering the same thing when we were down one run in the bottom of the ninth and two runners on and one out. He pinched hit Hernandez who promptly hit into a game ending DP. :banghead: But that is why he hasn't used Nix as a pinch hitter. I sometimes :banghead: on some of Dusty's decisions. Sometimes he just makes a decision out of the blue that I :banghead: and end up saying, what the fuck, why did he do that. What a fucking moron. But we have been winning lately and winning cures most things.
