Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Fallen and Evil
Damn you! you barely beat me to it.
Fallenempire and I could co-exist as long as he doesn't forget that he has no fucking clue what he is talking about. I could have saved him a bunch of time and effort by writing my own season preview in one word.........GARBAGE. Oh wait, he didn't even get that far. Anyways, he can be in charge of counting how many laps VAG runs after not hustling in transition.

Unless some stud coach comes out and says he wants the IU job, the AD and the rest of the administration will tuck their tails and offer the job to Alford. College contracts were meant to be broken.

lol

Stevens is infinitely a better choice than Alford.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

I definitely think Crean is better than Alford, but what's wrong with Stevens? I know the ESPN love affair was disgusting, but that doesn't take away from his ability.

Why are you so against that? I don't think it'll happen, partially because Stevens will never commit himself to the insanity.

But other than that, what's so bad about him?

the only "statistical" reason i can give you is that IU would probably way overpay for him right now given his current stock level. i mean, the guy is still pretty unproven -- it's not like his resume isn't impressive, but it's also not like he coaches at a basketball poor school.

my other reasons are just personal disgust over seeing his face plastered over indy media for the last half year, and the pride factor in not wanting to take butler's scraps. there's other reasons, but we can do much, much, much better for a similar/cheaper price.

metaphorically i'm not ready to turn the keys to our luxury car over to a kid who performed well on his driver's test but still just got his license.

Well, I think the fact that you consider the job as a luxury car as compared to what he currently has says a lot. In today's world, IU's job isn't a luxury car.

And then you aren't getting Butler's scraps. You'd be getting the most successful coach in the history of a good program. And a coach that when he walks into an in-state recruits gym, that it means something. Fact is, Stevens holds more weight at a smaller program than Crean does at a bigger one.

in terms of facilities, resources, fan base, TV contracts, etc., etc., etc., IU is still very much a luxury car.

fill me in on what high major recruits stevens is recruiting besides cody zeller? any ones outside of the state of indiana?

last time i checked butler is a small school with (now) 1 NBA player, 4,000 kids, a limited set of educational opportunities compared to big conferences, old facilities, etc. they are what they are they're not going to be a faux-high major just because of one NCAA run.

that's all i'm saying on the matter because i really, really, really, really, really, really don't care. i will always and forever be an IU fan regardless of performance on the court. if brady stephenson or whatever his name is can have success at another school that's all dandy. no matter how many shots you take at IU it doesn't make me any less of a fan. case closed.

Again with this crap? We get it, Cam. You don't think the IU program is great anymore. You don't think we should compete with the Dukes and UNCs of the world. You don't think the head coaching job is one of the top ones in the country. Seriously, we get it.

Give Alford the same players, and injury situations, over the past 2 seasons and he wins more games than Crean did.
