Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

If I were a betting man, I would say he is Arkansas bound.

Not alarmed or worried a bit... Coach Crean makes the players work in the classroom. Check out the team GPA.. amazing change very quickly. Pretty sure if any of them struggle they would be required a tutor immediately.
Tijan Jobe was the anchor of the team GPA.

Sorry, dreach, but I do have a problem with players taking blow off classes. There are about 4,000 D I basketball players.....if 30 per year actually play long enough in the NBA to make a significant dent in their future financial security, then about 3% actually have a career in basketball. In terms of the universities making millions off of them and therefore they are 'entitled' to basically get nothing out of their education, then it seems to me that isn't an 'even trade off'....that's the university screwing them twice: they make millions off of them and give them no future in return.

BTW, here is some data in terms of incoming SAT scores for 2008-9:

http://collegeapps.about.com/od/sat/a/big-ten-sat-scores.htm

There really is no difference in incoming SATs.

Let's at least stop acting like admissions for students is in any related to the admissions of athletes.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

I agree with you....the way he talks about Arkansas and the fact that it is his only visit planned so far give me a bad hunch. I think that is where he will play.

I agree. The Universities should do more for student athletes. That's why I'm saying a scholarship is the LEAST they can do.

It should be noted, student athletes can major in whatever they wish and they CAN get a great education. It's totally up to them. It's extremely hard and hectic, but they can do it. Of course, if they choose to take blow off classes, that's their option too.

My point is a guy like BJ Young who has slacked academically should get the opportunity to get a great education at IU if he passes NCAA standard and is offered an athletic scholarship. Even if he is not a guy the university would normally admit academically.

Funny......you were the only person who thought that if Jeff Robinson had Glenn Robinson's ability, he still wouldn't have gotten into Purdue.

Do you know that Purdue's current starting MLB was denied admission originally?

Wouldn't you think that a player with his ability, playing as a true freshman/starting as a true sophomore, would get admitted immediately if talent were stressed so much in the admission process?

Purdue will be facing the same situation next year with Gabe Holmes. Denied admission, will play as a true freshman and start as a true sophomore.

And some IU fans are the only people who think Jeff Robinson was denied admission for any other reason besides he completely fucked up his senior season. Hell, even Jeff Robinson himself admitted such and accepted it!!!!!!
