Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

disappointed with BJ Young not committing to IU? I for one am. I think he would have given Crean that point guard that he has been lacking in his offense. Now he has to wait until 2012 before he can land a guy like that. I don't see any from 2011 that we even have a chance with. I am more disappointed with him than I was Irving. I sort of thought, from a lot of stuff that I read, that he was a heavy IU lean. It was very disappointing to receive that news. :(

People around Arkansas have been pretty confident in getting Young for awhile now. I'm thinking your thoughts of him being a heavy IU lean is because you read strictly IU-centric material.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

For sure. Arkansas has been heavily mentioned (hog posted something last month) for a while now.

As far as recruiting -- these days with the way media covers recruiting, we're going to hear about literally every player that IU contacts (which is a hell of a lot). To think that all of the ones that are mentioned, or even the slightest percentage, will end up at IU is just foolish. Focusing on recruiting rumors is absolutely the last thing college basketball fans should do. It's fun to speculate on what players could come, especially with how bad IU has done lately, but to be disappointed by it is counter-productive. The coaching staff will take care of their business, trust in that, support the team actually wearing candy-stripes.

I don't think its wrong to follow recruiting. You just have to take what you read with a grain of salt. The key is deciphering between facts written and opinions written. And understand that things change so quickly in recruiting that what you read in July is probably not still true in September.

I didn't say it was.

Yeah, as Btown notes, I posted something i read in the paper here in Little Rock about a month ago where BJ himself said he was Arkansas was his favorite.
Also, I had meant to post this, but I forgot...On friday the people on the local drive-time show were talking recruiting with with one of the guys from Hawgs Sports - that is Arkansas' Rivals site - and he talked about Young visiting this weekend and said he wouldn't surprised if he committed while here.

Would I liked to have had Young? Sure, if he could qualify, but I am not too bent out of shape about it. We don't necessarily need a PG in the 2011 class.

Pelphrey (spelling) is a hell of a coach and he's young so of course Arkansas looks attractive.

Like most of you have said though, BJ probably won't even have the grades to play his freshman year anywho. In my eyes, ANY guys that we're recruiting that have a giant question mark in the classroom are better parting ways. Athletes are nice, but we want STUDENT athletes.

You do realize Mo Creek was an academic risk right?

I'm so happy you said it, and I didn't have to.

I do think it's funny how when you miss on a talented recruit people come up with reasons why we didn't want him anyway.

I wanted him, but it did sound like it was anything but a sure thing that he would actually be able to get in.
