The guy picked last in gym class

My bigger question was how did Watford not get to the line. It's not like they weren't physical with him.... The last time Watford didn't get to the line in a game was March 3rd of last year. |

IMO, the officiating didn't really interrupt the game until very late, and overall it wasn't bad; but naturally, the guy that puts us on the bad end of a 50/50 call would be Ted Valentine, the man who wasn't allowed to do IU games up until very recently, and the guy who was nearly fired for making poor judgments against IU. don't know how the man is allowed to do IU games. |

At some point, Watford needs to learn that if someone's not in position the best play is to go through them. He might've been fouled a couple times, but he could've been on the freethrow line a lot more if he went up strong instead of trying to avoid contact. |

that was the best hoosier game i've watched in a loooooooong time. loved the defensive effort, especially inside with the stripping of the ball (was reminded of sampson's first year at one point...with not the best talent but getting the best out of it effort wise on the defensive end). we tired defensively second half, watford had some really lazy rotations (not enough rest?), creek lost a step (injury?) and jones just got burnt (being jones?). but, that was great to see a team compete for the sake of competition and not simply necessarily if things happened to be going our way. thought watford battled well on the boards, offense uninspiring, but he's got to get help as well. thought creek had his "best" game yet...though the lack of confidence is gaping. absolutely loved our two freshmen. honestly, as touted, so to speak, as the sophomore class was...these two might be pushing them for accolades come end of the season. and...i'll just say it...i thought jones was poor for the most part and needed to see more pine. poor decision making, not strong enough on the ball or on the glass and unable to adequately account for those shortcomings with some acknowledged nice offensive possessions. glad to see TP maybe find a productive role. but, to be truthful, a bit scary (or excited?) feeling like the two freshmen maybe offered the most promise for the program going forward. maybe no coincidence that they are two of the most athletic guys out there as well... |

Ok, fuck WOW! I DVR'd the game and it won't even play. It shows that it recorded 2:30 ( two and a half hours) but it won't move from 0:00 even when I tried to fast-forward it :banghead: I even tried rebooting the system a couple of times with no luck. Should have stuck with Insight. Anywho, I forgot about ESPN3, hopefully it is still on there. |

“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves." "I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

Crean sucks. We'll never win another game. I'm worried about the future of the program. Oh woe is me! |

That's exactly what I said and meant. If you aren't at least a little worried about the current state of the program, then you are a little blind. |

Not in the least bit concerned. Very far from concerned actually. haha. i count two players on the current roster that would be getting a lot of minutes on any other big ten team at this point in their career. i'll judge crean on the court when he as a little more than that. off the court the man has done things no other IU coach has ever done; and i think that was the most important part of bringing in a new squad. see, sampson wasn't fired for making those phone calls, he was fired for lying about it and failing to control his program. the first part of healing this program was repairing the moral fibers, and emphasizing student first. that part is done, now Crean just needs to bring in his guys. this is year 2 in the rebuilding process, jumping to conclusions and hitting the panic button right now would just be plain silly. there may be some people yipping and yapping about coaching right now, but i'm just glad the level headed, smart people are the ones in charge of the basketball program. as an IU alumni, i trust them to make decisions and i'll vigorously support any decision they make. |

I completely disagree about players getting minutes elsewhere. Watford, Jones, Creek, Elston, and Oladipo are playing anywhere. I think Roth, Hulls, Rivers, and Pritchard could find places at just about anywhere, just depends on the program. I just don't see player development. I don't see those guys becoming better basketball players, both offensively and defensively. I don't see those guys becoming a TEAM. I don't see an identity, something that this program is hanging its hat on. What is Tom Crean's Indiana University basketball program going to be about? |
