Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

As the announcer's pointed out last night, this team plays undisciplined, especially the bigs. That comes down to coaching. I also agree with panchen, Jones needs to see more pine. I think we actually play better when he is not on the court.

Lack of talent keeps popping up. A good coach, like Keady and Knight, would get more out of less and I don't see that. Some of that is on the individual player, but some of that falls on coaching.

Overall, it was an OK game but I am not happy with the loss. We should have stole a win on the road from Minny.

I've never been this happy about a loss!
I feel like I've been reading this a lot from you lately.
Close your eyes, keep smiling, and things will keep being good.
Where to begin......

Crean sucks. We'll never win another game. I'm worried about the future of the program. Oh woe is me!
That's exactly what I said and meant.

If you aren't at least a little worried about the current state of the program, then you are a little blind.
I don't think so at all. I said this was a .500 team if they had a good year. That seems to be right where they are/will be. So the program is exactly where I expected it to be. And if I recall correctly, I think you were in the same ballpark? So why would you now think the program is in trouble and people who don't see it are blind?

What is Tom Crean's Indiana University basketball program going to be about?
The 3-man weave, and deflections. Brumdog is being hired to help with the latter.

I'm not talking about Ws and Ls. I guess I figured the team would look better. A lot of what goes wrong in games seems like the same stuff as last year.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

"I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

Actually I think it's worse than last year. At least last year we had Tijan and Bawa to absorb some fouls for us.

The only reason people picked IU to be close to .500 was because of their craptastic early season schedule. IU hasn't beaten a major conference team, and has crapped their pants down the stretch of most of those games......which has become the most consistent thing about this program since Crean took over.

I'm not concerned about the program, I already know where it's going. We will get some good recruits, but Crean will not get IU back to where they should be. Nice guy, just not quite good enough of a coach for IU. If it takes him blowing opportunities with top level recruits for some of you to see that, then so be it. It's pretty sad when a coach who is supposedly known for being great at developing guards can't get his 3rd year lead guard to play with any more basketball IQ than he did as a Senior in high school. Not asking VAG to be All-BT....just show that Crean has at least taught you something.

Well said!!!

I do think Crean has a lot of good qualitys, especially in recruiting and relating to players. I haven't seen the player development thing yet, but some of it does fall on the individual player as well. But if that player isn't developing like he should, to the pine he goes.

When bitching about player development under Crean you'll use Jones all day but ignore the fact that Hulls, Watford, Elston, and Rivers are all playing at a higher level this year. If Crean gets some blame for Jones' lack of progression, he gets some credit for those aforementioned players improvement, too.

And Verdell Jones himself is shooting 80 points higher this year. It hasn't ALL been bad.

To be fair, he let Elston rot on the bench last year so who knows how good he would have been.

Watford has only been good against the supercrappy teams IU played......he has been awful against all other teams...not sure I would be using him as a guy who has improved a ton.

Hulls is playing very well offensively, and he is getting to play a lot of off guard like he should. Last year, Crean moved Verdell to the wing and had Hulls/Rivers playing a lot of point.

Rivers has also improved, no doubt about it.
