. having no turnovers is not a good thing, unless you're just the perfect team. like i said unforced turnovers are obviously always not good, but it's not as if it was a disruption to last night's game. your primary ball handler will have 2-3 turnovers on any given night, depending on the number of minutes they play. |

Occam's razor: is not the simplest explanation is usually the right one . . . that is actually the law of parsimony. Occam's razor is a bit more nuanced than that. Just because you think your explanation is the simplest, doesn't make it right! |

Bethune Cookman is 12th in the nation in turnover percentage. They are 2-8 against D1 competition. Gonzaga is 245th in turnover percentage. |

Gonzaga isn't really that good though. MSU is dead last in the B10 in turnover percentage. They take a lot of risks on the offensive end, mostly to good results, but sometimes resulting in a turnover. |

Gonzaga might not be a top twenty five team, but they are a solid tourney team....they are 10-5, but that is one hell of a schedule they've played. They've also won six in a row now in a streak that included Baylor, Xavier, and Oklahoma State. Their five losses are to teams that have a combined 12 losses. |

I am still scratching my head at your comment. How is having no turnovers not a good thing? As far as VJ goes, that is 4 possessions that we didn't even get a shot attempt and by my calculation, that is 8-12 possible points that we could have potentially had if we converted on all of those possessions. Didn't we only lose by 4? Now I know in reality that nobody that handles the ball as much as he does will have 0 turnovers, but, IMO, he should have no more than one or two per game. His assist to turnover ratio should be at least or around 2:1 per game. Edited by dedicatedIUfan, Jan 6 2011, 07:43 AM.

Go Hoosiers!

VJ's A/T ratio is significantly worse this season than it was in his first two years. His FT% is also down by about 10%. I am not sure if it's the fact that he is being forced to play the 1 more often or if something else has caused it. As far as I am concerned, he is our weak link right now. |

Pretty sure he was being sincere. Either way I'm not going to be too apologetic for lashing out in the future at Purdue posters who come on here and start throwing rocks at the wasp nest. Bobo is the man and isn't guilty of this, so I figured I owed him an apology. |

I will say that Rivers is playing Krameresque defense right now. Playing taller guys, getting his hands on the ball, disrupting on the defensive end. I would think that it would transfer to the other guys eventually. It can be contagious. He's really turned it around this year. |

Christ, I never thought I'd see the day. Turning the ball over is a good thing? Oh my. I'd love to see Bob Knight's reaction to a comment like that. When you turn it over, you have fewer chances to score. Many turnovers lead to a basket for the opposing team. Turnovers also lead to momentum loss. None of these things are good. So that 2-8 team would be better if they turned it over more? I tend to look at that situation as maybe they would be 0-10 and getting beat by 30 points per night if they turned it over more, but that's just me. |

Oh, I read what you wrote about a team that's more 'aggressive' is going to have more turnovers. I doubt any HOF coach would agree with your assessment. |
