Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Had to watch it on DVR late due to work. Here are some thoughts:

- Improvement, anyone? We just walked into the arena of a ranked conference opponent on the road and hung with them until the end. That's our best road performance all season.

- Minnesota's Iverson is Robbie Hummel ugly.

- As much as Dakich talked about Watford accepting his role as a wing, he was pushed down to the block quite a bit. He was outsized and out-experienced down low. That leads to him getting abused. Us not having a legit big man will kill Watford's production.

- The fouls....oh, the fouls! I'm not one to complain about the refs, but that was just annoying to watch.

- Games like last night redefine why this season is NOT about wins and losses.

- We started 4 underclassmen and one junior. They started 4 upperclassmen.

- Our lockdown defense was great. We couldn't do much about rebounding, given the size differential, but I thought we played very tight last night. It was refreshing.

- Victor Oladipo, anyone? He made a few bonehead slashing plays that ran into brick walls, but he energized our team to a solid performance.

That was a very fun game to watch. There was a point in the first half where we went 2-12 and our defense kept us in the thing. Looking forward to next game.

It's amazing what the lack of a big man does to your team, especially in Big Ten play. Remember George Leach? Guy had hands of stone and was a total non-factor offensively. Still, he could stand straight up on defense and alter and block shots and he grabbed some rebounds. That's what Guy was supposed to be. How different would our team look with a George Leach player? Watford would be at the 3 with Elston at the 4. Gosh that would be nice to see.

The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism.

Tell that to Crean.

I can accept not winning if guys are giving 100% every game and doing the right things offensively/defensively, but when I see one of our most experienced players make bone head plays, lead us in turnovers, and thinks he is the go to guy, then I have issues. I will accept losing if Crean would sit Verdell Jones on the bench for several games in row until he proved he was going to play the way Crean wants him to play. I actually enjoyed the game last night too and felt we should have won the thing and I also felt like we seem to play better when VJ isn't on the floor. I maybe wrong, but that is my observation of the thing.

Overall though, I agree with your assessment of the game, but unlike Btown, I am not happy with this lose. I felt like we should have won the damn thing.

My final thoughts on the game is that VO and Sheehey gave us good energy. Rivers played great defense. Hulls can flatout shoot the rock. It was nice to see Creek hit some threes. Capoi needs to transfer and Elston needs to play more consistent. Finally, as much as I hate to admit it, the team played better when TP was on the floor. He played pretty good interior defense and did manage about 4 points and Crean's defensive strategy was great.

George Leach was actually playing in the D-League still just a year or so ago...

That's what size will do for you and why I don't think many people were surprised when Guy was brought up as potential NBA material.
