Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

So when you're on the main page of the board, there are advertisements at the top and bottom. Just a minute ago, they were for "Facebook of Sex", and the pictures were graphic, to say the least, especially considering most of us check this site from work. Is there any way you can edit which ads gets shown up there.

I certainly don't want to view this board when someone is walking by and think that I'm watching porn, lol.

You may have no control...i don't know. Just something that I noticed and thought I would ask.

Noted...it's usually for something like american express or along those lines. Apparently, that's not the case today.

I've noticed that the ads tend to relate to sites you visit alot or have recently visited. For example, my girlfriend looked at swimsuits on my computer and ads came up for the exact website she was on for like a week. Not accusing you of looking at porn but just throwing out the theory of how they may work.

This is exactly how they work. For instance, I need new tires for my car, and I have looked at a few sites for cheap ones and there is a Kauffman Tire add right now.

Learned this in one of my advertising classes.

I can assure you, I've NEVER looked at improper material at work....

Can that transfer over from what you look at at home? I have two roommates that use my computer daily as well....looks like I need to check the history page, lol.

HAhaha sounds like you need to put some parental controls on them then if you are having to use that as your work computer as well.

I can't control the ads. If you can install Firefox with AdBlock Plus, you won't see the ads at all. Otherwise, I'd recommend clearing your cache and history.

No...this is what I'm saying...I log on to this site at home and at work from different computers at different places. Is there any way that information could transfer through this site to pick up sites that were visited at home and then parlay the same ads onto my work computer? That's the only thing that makes sense to me...because there's no way I would have those kind of ads at work.

It's POSSIBLE that zetaboards stores information specific to your account, but not probable. Do you visit facebook at work? that could be triggering it.

I hate that this is happening to you. Zeta shouldn't allow any elicit ads through adsense. I've always been ok with people posting porn on this site, but never ok with companies advertising it on here.

Maybe 5 minutes per week. I don't really care that much for facebook...but if I can an email saying someone dropped a line or posted a photo, then I'll check it out real quick. Doesn't seem right that that could be translated into "facebook of sex"...fucking crazy.

Hopefully it was just a fluke....

It's obviously triggering ads specific to "Facebook" not necessarily the sex part, boat. It's normal, and like the others have said, it's part of the perfectly legal privacy invasion of the internet which allows the search engines and what not to remember each users commonly searched phrases or surfed sites. Just like how the gov can track all our plastic card spending..

Anywho, I didn't realize ads on this site existed anymore, thanks to "Foxfire" as my uncle kept referring it as a week ago lol. Download firefox, Adblock, finito.

this is hilarious....I actually know just about everything there is to know about how these ads word. Bottom line, someone is looking at porn on your computer. Most likely youporn.com which drops tons of cookies into your browser.

If you see an ad for "the best site for killing your roommate", or "how to tell your roommate that you secretly have a man-crush on him", you might want to hit the road!

The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism.
