Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

If Terrelle Pryor plays in a bowl game and the Big Ten suspends Elston.....
i agree that would be absurd. with the suspension, i was thinking more of a team/crean decision, not something at the instigation of the big10.

While I understand where you're coming from Brum, I really don't care what happened to Pryor in regards to how Elston's punishment is handled. Unlike tOSU, IU has morals and punishes its players when they do something wrong.

We're not going to be like pUKe and use the excuse that other programs have broken rules to condone our program's mistakes. It's like when they defend Calipari vacating two final fours by saying Duke got away with it when they had Maggette. That's just making excuses and not taking up responsibility.

Just going to throw this out there, but as bad as what Elston did looks i think it's important to note that this is the first time he's experienced any on the court issues at all, so i think he should be treated as such. one game would be a pretty harsh penalty already, in my opinion, anything more would be over the top.

If I were the coach I'd have him run a hell of a lot of laps in practice and call the player and coach of NW as well as send them a drafted letter of apology, and I think that would be enough.

I don't think the Board Authority on Suspensions, Brumdog44, would be happy with that.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

I wasn't saying he needed to be suspended, but TC should exercise the power of the pine to discipline. That is all. Maybe a couple extra suicides in practice, and then make him stand in front of the team and explain why The Last Unicorn is his favorite movie.

There will be officially no suspension.
Don't forget the details.

Elston said it was unintentional. Crean discussed it with him at length and decided to take him at his word.

Sorry guys. I call bullshit.

No need to apologize because I agree.

my point is if that's the decision he arrived at (that's his prerogative, his decision, his player, his team) there was no need to discuss it publicly. just say "that's a team issue, we're not going to discuss it", now there are people second guessing it. i may not necessarily agree that it wasn't intentional, but it's Crean's team and I would seriously doubt that Elston didn't get punished at all.

He has to address it publicly because it looked intentional. If he doesn't say that Elston said it was unintentional, then it looks like Crean is not concerned with a player doing such a dumb, unsportsmanlike thing. I think Btown has been in some sort of drug related stupor for the last 2 months or so....lots of retarded thoughts coming from you lately.

but if you just leave it at a team issue it dies. who knows if he got in trouble or not. either way this got blown out of proprtion.

If a kid intentionally trips another player during a game, and is not publicly punished in some way....it will not die. I certainly wouldn't just say 'oh, I'm sure Crean punished him'. It makes the program look bad if you don't publicly discuss it.
