Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

So my folks and I are going up to the IU game tomorrow. Believe it or not, this is actually my first live game. I've tried going to games the past couple of years but have conflicts with school. Now that I've graduated, I finally get to see a game at Assembly Hall. We could only get seats in the balcony, but they are the first row.

I've heard of a few good places to eat at before going to the game. Nick's is one of them. Anyone else got some good places to go to before the game?

Depends on what you want to do, since tomorrow's game starts at 8 you get some time to play with which is nice.

I believe that Nick's just epitomizes bloomington, it's just one of those places you have to go to. There are a TON of really good restaurants, but I feel like you just have to start out there. It's uniquely IU.

The second thing I'd recommend is going to Cook Hall before the game starts. I think what it offers is well documented on this board, but it's just a really good experience, especially for life-long hoosier fans.

Go IU, and hopefully you bring us good luck and a victory!

We went to the Penn State game and went to Nick's, per Btown's suggestion, and it was great. That place had great food and about everyone there had IU stuff on. We didn't get there early enough to go to Cook Hall, but next time I go to an IU game, I will make sure I see it. Everyone says how great it is. But go to Nick's, you won't be disappointed.

yogi's is also pretty good. small bar straight on after you enter (not the monstrosity to the right)...usually draws a decent pregame crowd.

that being said, if this is your initiation to live hoops in b'town...nick's is probably a requisite stop.

Yogi's hurt my attendance to most afternoon classes. I would walk in for lunch and end up stumbling home for dinner. College.

I would eat at either Nicks, Yogis, or Lennys.

I'm jealous that you'll be in btown tomorrow. Here's what I recommend...don't depend on Nick's for food. While that may be a great drinking spot before the game, if you're in bloomington for a limited time, eat elsewhere! In fact, Nick's is only a mere block from 4th ave which hosts a barrage of great local restaurants.

Well, I just got back from the game. First, we went to Nick's, and there was actually a line outside of people waiting to get in. I say we waited a good 15 minutes. Loved the atmosphere inside and had a good burger and couple of drinks. No, I didn't go upstairs.

Then we went to Assembly Hall and had to park on the other side of the football stadium. When I first walked in and saw the court, my jaw just dropped. There were a bunch of empty seats, but there was still a great crowd. If you've never been to a live game, I highly recommend going. Seeing a game in person is just a great experience.

And that was by far the best I've seen IU play in awhile. Michigan looked terrible, but I loved how hard IU hustled and just out worked them. Jones had the hot hand tonight, Pritchard was crashing the boards, Hulls and Roth drained a few 3s, and Watford was finishing down low. There was a huge gasp that went throughout the stadium when Creek fell down and was holding his knee. Great to see he got up and didn't reinjure it. Overall, it was a good performance by the team, and I hope the continue to play this hard throughout the season.

Glad you enjoyed it.

At least you witnessed a win. We went to Penn State game and we all know the outcome of that one.

Needless to say, this was by far the best game, excluding the 16 turnovers, that has been under the Crean era and you witnessed that.

Glad you enjoyed yourself. I wish you could have seen Cook Hall. It truly is amazing.

I did see the outside of Cook Hall but really didn't have time to go in. But it looked pretty damn cool from the outside.

When they showed the mopping lady on the big screen, the lights went down, and the announcer introduced the team, I got chills. Super cool. I'm going to try to go to at least one game once a year from now on.
