Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

It looks like Gary Harris has set his official visits for Purdue, IU, and Michigan State. He probably will at least get an in-home visit from Louisville, but might schedule an official visit with them later. But right now it looks like Michigan State has the hammer. They will get the last visit. Is that an advantage? I think it could be, but IU may change their HH to Saturday so Harris can take in the festivities there.

Here is what I have on this issue:

Report: Gary Harris will visit Indiana on October 15
by Alex Bozich in Recruiting | September 1st, 2011
2012 Hamilton Southeastern guard Gary Harris has set dates for official visits to Indiana and Michigan State according to Brian Snow of Scout.com (premium link).

Harris will visit Bloomington on Saturday, October 15 and East Lansing on Saturday, November 5.

The five-star guard’s first official visit to Purdue will take place on Saturday, October 1 when the Boilermakers host Notre Dame for football.

Indiana’s first official practice, Hoosier Hysteria, has taken place on Friday evenings in the past, but with Harris coming in on Saturday, it’s a safe bet to assume this year’s event will be moved.

Here is some more info from twitter, via ITH:

New on ITH: Report: Gary Harris will visit Indiana on October 15 http://t.co/kBTU3L2 #iubb 45 minutes ago
RT @BSnowScout And before any one even asks, yes I know the date that is currently public for Hoosier Hysteria... Should be a hint of change about an hour ago
Also, per @BSnowScout, Louisville will get in-home visit with Harris and likely an official visit as well. about an hour ago
Per @BSnowScout, Gary Harris will take official visit to Indiana on October 15. about an hour ago

Me too.

Also, I'm not sure how much the order of the visits matter, although it seems like most people would prefer the last visit.

I've had that feeling as well. Going into Zellerpalooza I was rather confident, but my gut feeling on this is quite the opposite.

He'd be a great get for sure, but it's nice to be in a position to where if he decides to go elsewhere, we're still going to have a very talented team.

Yes they are. Here is what I found on their website:

A source familiar with the situation just confirmed that Hoosier Hysteria is, in fact, on Oct. 15.

I have had that same feeling too. I hope I am wrong. Something tells me he ends up at Michigan State, but I do think Purdue could sneak in there before we get him. I think he wants to be the star and he will only be a very strong piece to a very good puzzle at IU. But if he goes to Michigang State or Purdue, then he will be the man for each of their respective recruiting classes. I hope that makes sense and I don't mean that in any disrespect towards Michigan State or Purdue, because they do have very good players attending those two schools, but he would definitely be the highest ranked player for each of their recruiting classes for 2012.

Having HH on the same day as his visit will help. Maybe we can get a Gary Harris chant going! ;)

I have a feeling there will be multiple GH chants throughout the evening.

Not just at IU either, but I can't imagine being a high school athlete and going to an event like HH and having 10k+ fans chanting your name. It's no wonder most of them have such a sense of entitlement.

I think Purdue, MSU, and Indiana all got what they wanted visit wise. Oct. 1 is the Purdue/Notre Dame football game which is a great day at Purdue. Obviously the Midnight Madness event has always been big for Indiana. And MSU has the last visit.

Should be interesting.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

I was thinking about that earlier and completely agree. I didn't know if November 5th is a day of any significance at MSU but getting the last visit is always nice.

They have a home football game that Saturday. And it's the last chance at an official before the early signing period begins.

Dakich commented on his show that he thinks Gary Harris will end up at IU. I sure hope he is right. He was about CZ.

what's "midnight madness"?
The event that opens basketball practices. It was originally held on campuses at Midnight, it's a general term for Late Night at the Phog (Kansas), Big Blue Madness (Kentucky), and Hoosier Hysteria (Indiana).
