IU picked 6th by Sporting News!!!! WOW, is all I can say. I hope they are true with their prediction. Maybe it is time for us to start our predictions for the year. Sporting News bullish on IU in 2011-2012 Big Ten finish by Alex Bozich in Media | September 4th, 2011 The fall’s first college basketball preview magazine, published by The Sporting News, is on newsstands and their editors have the Hoosiers jumping from eleventh up to sixth in the Big Ten. The complete rundown of the projected conference finish is as follows: 1. Ohio State, 2. Wisconsin, 3. Michigan, 4. Michigan State, 5. Purdue, 6. Indiana, 7. Northwestern, 8. Minnesota, 9. Illinois, 10. Iowa, 11. Nebraska and 12. Penn State. Also of note: Cody Zeller is mentioned as the top freshman in the Big Ten and is given hefty praise: “There’s a strong chance he’ll be the type of dominant center few programs ever see.” Sophomore Victor Oladipo is tabbed as the league’s most athletic player. Obviously these types of predictions can be thrown out the window once the season tips off in November, but as a point of discussion in early September, does the jump from the bottom of the Big Ten up to sixth for this group of Hoosiers seem probable, possible or too optimistic? |

The guy picked last in gym class

I don't know why a prediction of sixth would come as much of a surprise....we really lost nothing, everyone gained a year experience and added at least one freshman who will immediately contribute. |

Maurice Creek just posted a picture after a shootaround session. Who knows where he's shooting from, but I doubt he was doing the Mikan drill. Anyway, hopefully he's on his way back to full health and will be able to contribute again. If he's healthy, you can pretty much count him and Zeller both as big additions for next year. I think that's about in line with what people were thinking -- and I'm not including MC3 in that prediction. If he's healthy, that's just a bonus as far as I'm concerned. |

Not really a surprise but IMO it sets expectations for the first time in the Crean era. Should be interesting. |

“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves." "I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

i'm expecting maurice to shoot 420/500 from beyond the arc this year. anything less is really going to be disappointing. honestly think all the teams 2-10 could either see their fortunes wax or wane. can't, however, see osu not taking it, and nebraska and psu not holding up the back. |

Back to reality. Athlon has us picked ninth and going to the NIT. I think the NIT maybe be correct, but I think we will finish higher than ninth. I will wait to predict exactly where we will finish until I see the schedule but I do think we should be better than at least 4 of the teams. Here is from ITH: Louisville C-J: Athlon picks IU for NIT, ninth in Big Ten Athlon has the Hoosiers headed to the NIT — off a ninth-place finish in the Big Ten. Junior forward Christian Watford is featured on one of the regional covers, along with Robbie Hummel of Purdue and Ronald Nored of Butler. Remind me not to buy that magazine. I usually buy that one every year, but I won't this year, lol. I really go by what Street & Smith predicts and the second one is the Sporting News. Edited by dedicatedIUfan, Sep 6 2011, 08:01 PM.

What kind of bad memories are you talking about? Don't tell me you got completely drunk one night and that was the last song you heard before you passed out and woke up next to a hairy dude? ;) |

Haha, almost as bad. I use to date some whore that liked to sing or whistle that song for some reason. That was many, many, many years ago, but it made me think of her. Thanks guys! |
