Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

...receiver at South Bend Washington that had only received offers from MAC schools and was a three star receiver ranked 98th at his position is a guy who IU should be going after. He had caught over 100 passes for over 2000 yards as a sophomore and junior. He's now starting to get attention of the big boys.

His first game this year, he set a state record with 373 yards. His third game -- with some major D1 scouts in attendance, he set a national hs record with 447 yards receiving. Through three games he had 30 catches for over 1100 yards. This past week he was hurt and their offense which had been averaging 50 points was held to 12.

I saw a video of his record breaking night and they were basically just playing 500 as Dieter was taller than everyone. Didn't see anything that would make him stand out on the college level.

How is that different than Demarlo Belcher?

Dieter is 6'3", Belcher is 6'5". And most of the time Belcher is running when he catches the ball. Several of the catches I saw in the video basically had Dieter standing 40 yards downfield with 3 5'9" guys around him and he was just taller. The competition looked poor to say the least. That said, Dieter's QB looked terrible as well. The kid is in Indiana so I'm sure the staff knows about him. Not saying I wouldn't take him, but his I have my doubts about how productive he'll be at the next level.

Both Purdue and Notre Dame have shown interest.....SMU has offered now and Auburn, Wisconsin, and Northwestern are starting to show a lot of interest.

I look at our team and see Kofi Hughes starting and wonder how he wouldn't play at IU.

Well that's true. Starter yes. A #1? I don't think so.

Thank you.....it's something that hadn't been done in the history of high school sports. We weren't talking a team the size of Ben Davis playing some 1A school, either....

The week he set the state record, his 4A team played 5A Bloomington North. North has won their next three games, beating Bedford North Lawrence, Columbus North, and Bloomington South....and North went to semi-state last year, which meant they were one of the last four 5A schools left. The game he set the national record was against Elkhart Central, which isn't a great program...but it's a 5A school that had beaten Goshen this year and was very competitive against decent competition (5A Elkhart Memorial and 4-0 3A South Ben St. Joe's). Central hasn't given up more than 28 points other than to Washington...you can't tell me there haven't been infinitely more match ups where a receiver had more of a size advantage.
