Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Should college coaches be showing up at a high school practice/work-out in a limo? Isn't that sort of counter-productive to all the isues/scandals that the NCAA is going thru right now.

Maybe I am just bored and looking for a reason to pick on Duke but it just seems really stupid to me. Economy sucks, families struggling to get by, and we have college COACHES arriving in limos......bizarre.

Well if you want to get 3 people from an airport to a practice, that have the money a limo is a viable option. Yes they also could of rented a hertz kia. The limo company made money, the driver I am sure got tipped well. The economy probably made more money by them taking a limo then them renting a car.

I kind of agree that showing up in a limo is kind of tacky. They always could have taken a taxi.

Coltfan,

I thinl it depends was it a town car?

Was it a 40 ft stretch limo.

I would imagine it was a car service.

For a school like Duke, the latest report—filed for the 2008-09 season—will tell you that the athletic department spent $13.3 million on student aid, slightly more than $1 million on recruiting and nearly $4 million on assistant coaches salaries.

Time is money. How much do you think one of Coach K's assistants makes compared to the price of renting a driver?

Considering all the real corruption in college sports I really don't care about this.

I bet Matt Painter and Tom Crean aren't rolling up to kids' houses in a rented Kia for in home visits. I bet Coach K's real car is more lavish than a limo.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

"I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

Seems like the story of him arriving in a limo isn't accurate to begin with.....he had a driver, but it was a Yukon Denali.

There's even Yukon Denali's in Mt.Vernon, Indiana.

Definitely a non-story.
