Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

UM? Are you talking about football?
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

Haha.

Also, unless they get another commit, calling Purdue's 2012 class great is a bit of a reach.

Probably so. I don't think Hammons makes it great either, but GH would put make it very good. Regardless, the statement was a current one, and currently, it's not.

Hell for our recent standards it is, but I wouldn't even consider our current class a great one nationally. Maybe it's because we live so close to KY and Cal constantly brings in the classes he does, but that's just the way I look at it. GH going to IU would put it into that category, but currently I view our class more as being very good.

our class is good in terms of number of good players, not star power.

Agreed. 3 players in the top 50, another in the top 150 with Jurkin probably in that area if he had been healthy, is very good. However, without several top 10-15 players, I wouldn't consider it great.

Obviously, I'm not trying to cut down our players either, but I don't want to get crazy and throw out adjectives that don't really apply. They could very well end up great, especially if we don't have many early entrants (and additionally, scouting services aren't the last word), but at face value right now, that's how I see it.

Yup, I think it's a great start, but I don't think 2012 should be a ceiling as far as our recruiting level goes. I don't think Tom Crean sees it that way either, 2014 is already shaping up pretty nicely.

I think both Indiana and Purdue's classes have great potential.

Totally agree, and I don't think it will be. It's obvious the last couple of months that Crean is trying to go national a bit more (Fischer, Anya, Randle (probably a pipe dream) and Jones). If successful the 2012 could become the norm.

That's one reason why I think this year is so huge. If we fall on our faces I think it could be a big detriment recruiting wise going forward. Crean is obviously as good of a salesman as there is, especially considering the results haven't been there. However, sooner or later you have to win. If we can somehow play well or even surpass expectations, then I think it would go a long way with the out of state recruits. Indiana is a very fertile place for recruits, and a majority of the time, you could be just fine with said players. However, on the years when it's down, it would be nice to be able to nab legitimate players elsewhere. With the work Crean has done in the 2012-2014 classes, that's the obvious next step forward in recruiting.

Hollowell and Harris were talking on Twitter and our whole 2012 class is going to be there with Harris. Hopefully they do some work on him and convince him to go to IU.
