  • Ban Chewing Tobacco for the World Series?
Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

This seems pretty stupid to me. Especially this quote.

Quote:

"When players use smokeless tobacco, they endanger not only their own health, but also the health of millions of children who follow their example,"

Actually, they're not endangering the health of millions of children. This kind of piggy backs along with the banning of happy meals in California. Just ridiculous in my opinion.

Thats because you are against freedom.

"Liberal, shmiberal. That should be a new word. Shmiberal: one who is assumed liberal, just because he's a professional whiner in the newspaper. If you'll read the subtext for many of those old strips, you'll find the heart of an old-fashioned Libertarian. And I'd be a Libertarian, if they weren't all a bunch of tax-dodging professional whiners." - Berkeley Breathed

Jim Leyland used to smoke heaters all the time when he was Pittsburgh's manager, and it always seemed odd.

I've seen Leyland do it in the past.

I say we just ban Selig and this stupid "whoever wins the All-Star Game" obtains home field advantage for the World Series. Just one of the many stupid "rules" this commission has come up with.

Last I checked, tobacco was legal in every state in the country. Why the stronghold in an outdoor profession? What's next, you can't smoke outside either? And why just the World Series, why not in every MLB game?

Just another example of power in the hands of old fucks that have nothing better to do than to wield it.

If I'm not mistaken, tobacco is banned in the minors. So MLB is already setting an example. If a grown man wants to chew tobacco, fuck Selig and congress.
