Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Thanks for proving my point Tim.
No idea what your point was. No idea why people are still talking about him.

Honestly, the more I hear about him, the harder it is to root against him. He's probably the most sincere, compassionate (as far as we know) professional athlete I've ever heard of.
Come on Boat, that is way to rational! I mean how could you like a guy, who has no control over the media, that is overhyped even when he isn't a very good QB? I don't care how many good things he does for people. It is just so damn annoying having to listen to certain media outlets that I don't have to pay attention to so I have to despise him.
I watch him in between the sidelines. The fact that so many fans and media carry things outside of the field on to excuse what he does on the field is not going to endear him to me. When a good number of people actually believe that divine intervention is the reason for his success, it is not inhuman for people to root against him to shut them up.

Bottom line, he's a great guy who gets a pass for what he does on the field because of that. We all know guys like that in our everyday lives....great guys, great morals, but simply don't do their job. And when other guys around them pick up the slack thanklessly, it pisses us off.

No, the bottom line is you blindly hate him because he gets so much hype. You wouldn't hate him if he was just another guy on a football team and still had all of the moral credentials that he does. If you did still hate him then you have a problem with religion which I believe is a main reason for most of the crap he takes. The thing that pisses me off about you and other guys that hate on Tebow is that he doesn't control the attention he gets. He never brings it upon himself. Do you see him ever begging for all of the media hype? Would you like him to just tell the Broncos that he is going to quit football because he is getting undeserved praise and attention and people don't like that? No, of course not. Instead, he embraces his role and uses the things he is given to help people.

When have I ever denied hating the amount of hype -- completely undeserved -- that he gets?

When he fails I am happy because it shoves it in the media's face as well as those who thing his play is 'divinely inspired'. If you want to point fingers at someone 'hating on religion', then point them at someone who believes that God is interesting in Tim Tebow throwing a pigskin around the field.

I have said that he is great guy off the field and have never said he hypes himself, yet that's how you want to peg anyone that doesn't care for his football ability and undeserved media love of said abilities. Whatever.

More interestingly, I was pondering the quandary that John Elway is in right now.

'Damned if you do'

I think that Dreach and Brum are right, i think the "success" (8-5 against marginal competition) that the Broncos had with Tim Tebow playing QB is largely due to a fad offense that defenses didn't seem to figure out until the last few weeks of the season. If Elway sticks with Tebow I think that experiment will eventually fail pretty hard core (see Ronnie Brown) and leave the Broncos SOL.

'Damed if you don't'

If Elway decides to go in another direction the fans/media/etc. will jump down his throat. No matter what you say about Tebow, when he was QB the Broncos played much better. His style of play hasn't been completely shot down.. yet. If Elway even so much as thinks about looking another direction at QB until Tebow completely falls flat he's in a bad situation.

So what does he do?

I really don't know -- but the good thing is that he's John Fucking Elway and he basically owns Denver. He's a smart guy and just so happens to know the QB position so I'd trust him to make the right decision, but whatever it is will likely be met with a great deal of scrutiny either now (benches tebow, drafts another QB, trades for another QB, etc) or later (Tebow fails, there is no backup plan).

What say you OHB?

Elway most likely will bring in somebody -- either in draft or free agency -- that would be capable of at least competing for the spot right away. With Orton gone, they have to bring in another guy anyway. Their draft slot likely will not have them picking a QB in the first round because the mid-first round value pick isn't going to be for a QB....with Barkley and Landry Jones going back to college, you have the QBs who are first of the first round picks probably got cut in half.

If they look to bring someone in who would back up Tebow but take over should things not go right, a guy like Jason Campbell would make sense. Should come pretty cheaply, is mobile enough that they wouldn't have to whole-heartedly change 100% of the offense, and a guy who IMO has been very underappreciated. He doesn't throw many picks and has an accurate enough arm.

If you think I hate Tebow solely based on the hype he is getting, you are sorely mistaken.

He went to Florida, I'm a big FSU football fan.

His two national championships and Heisman were just blind luck. SEC defenses just aren't built to stop the run today. :sarcasm:

Oh, and I'm sure Tebow thanks the guys around him on a regular basis.

Elway needs to bring in Peyton Manning. Gotta get someone that is SO good that even the Tebow lovers wouldn't question why he's starting and not Tebow.

I lived in the Bay Area for ten years, and all of my Mexican friends were Raiders fans. The only people that 9er's fans dislike are conservatives.

One interesting idea I heard is to trade him to Jacksonville. They desperately need to sell tickets, and Tebow in Florida is a giant sack of money. Gabbert sucked. Bad. Jacksonville would have to made a deal for Tebow if the Broncos leak the news out, right? Let all the heat fall on Elway. His rep in that town is untouchable anyways. He'd be able to brush it off fairly quickly. As long as they got a decent package out of Jacksonville, they'd be rid of Tebow and get more value from him than they'll get being trapped in a no-win case with him for another 5 years.

Just answer this question.... Would you hate on Tebow if he was just another average Joe on the roster?

Well in that case I think it's time to let it go man. Although he does still wear orange and blue.
