Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,

Bottom line, he's a great guy who gets a pass for what he does on the field because of that. We all know guys like that in our everyday lives....great guys, great morals, but simply don't do their job. And when other guys around them pick up the slack thanklessly, it pisses us off.

His two national championships and Heisman were just blind luck. SEC defenses just aren't built to stop the run today. :sarcasm:

Oh, and I'm sure Tebow thanks the guys around him on a regular basis.

This just keeps getting more and more ridiculous. Now Tebow is listed in the top 20 (ahead of Peyton Manning) as a guy that could have played in any era.

What a load of crock. As if 30 years ago, when defenses were built to stop the run, Tebow would have success running the option? Not a chance in hell. The only reason he's had some success now is

1) It's a gimmick that defenses weren't prepared for, a la the wildcat
2) Defenses are geared to stop the pass and rush the passer

I can't wait till Tebow is out of the NFL.
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7403681/no-19-broncos-qb-tim-tebow
Bump. This list is terrible.

Dwight Freeney? The guy doesn't play the run! How can he be an all era guy? How many sacks would he get against teams that only put the ball in the air 20 times/game? Meanwhile he'd begetting blown off the ball in the run game.

DeMarcus Ware? Not many 3-4 defenses back then. He'd have to convert to an every down DE or take on coverage responsibilities as an OLB. I think he could make it. He's a great player. But 12th in the league? I have questions.

James Harrison? Perfect for any era EXCEPT the one he currently plays in. Haha.

Meanwhile, Ed Reed is #13. 13. What exactly can't he do? He might be the greatest safety of all time. Darrelle Revis is #15. I believe he's known as an excellent tackler for a corner. This list is all bass ackwards.

12 spots to go. Guys I would expect on the list (in no particular order)
ANY offensive lineman. Jake Long? Michael Oher? Joe Thomas? Nick Mangold? Olin Kreutz (did he retire)?
Justin Tuck and/or Julius Peppers
Charles Woodson and/or Champ Bailey
Megatron and/or Andre Johnson
Michael Turner
Troy Polamalu

Other ideas?

Maybe it's his position, but I don't think Ed Reed gets nearly enough credit. I think he's one of the greatest players I've ever seen.

Honestly, the more I hear about him, the harder it is to root against him. He's probably the most sincere, compassionate (as far as we know) professional athlete I've ever heard of.
Come on Boat, that is way to rational! I mean how could you like a guy, who has no control over the media, that is overhyped even when he isn't a very good QB? I don't care how many good things he does for people. It is just so damn annoying having to listen to certain media outlets that I don't have to pay attention to so I have to despise him.
I watch him in between the sidelines. The fact that so many fans and media carry things outside of the field on to excuse what he does on the field is not going to endear him to me. When a good number of people actually believe that divine intervention is the reason for his success, it is not inhuman for people to root against him to shut them up.

Bottom line, he's a great guy who gets a pass for what he does on the field because of that. We all know guys like that in our everyday lives....great guys, great morals, but simply don't do their job. And when other guys around them pick up the slack thanklessly, it pisses us off.

No, the bottom line is you blindly hate him because he gets so much hype. You wouldn't hate him if he was just another guy on a football team and still had all of the moral credentials that he does. If you did still hate him then you have a problem with religion which I believe is a main reason for most of the crap he takes. The thing that pisses me off about you and other guys that hate on Tebow is that he doesn't control the attention he gets. He never brings it upon himself. Do you see him ever begging for all of the media hype? Would you like him to just tell the Broncos that he is going to quit football because he is getting undeserved praise and attention and people don't like that? No, of course not. Instead, he embraces his role and uses the things he is given to help people.

When have I ever denied hating the amount of hype -- completely undeserved -- that he gets?

When he fails I am happy because it shoves it in the media's face as well as those who thing his play is 'divinely inspired'. If you want to point fingers at someone 'hating on religion', then point them at someone who believes that God is interesting in Tim Tebow throwing a pigskin around the field.

I have said that he is great guy off the field and have never said he hypes himself, yet that's how you want to peg anyone that doesn't care for his football ability and undeserved media love of said abilities. Whatever.
Just answer this question.... Would you hate on Tebow if he was just another average Joe on the roster?
I WOULDN'T KNOW ABOUT HIM IF HE WERE AN AVERAGE JOE. I WOULDN'T HAVE HIM SHOVED IN MY FACE 24/7.

AND I WOULD STILL SAY THAT HE FUCKING SUCKS AT QUARTERBACKING. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE WOULD BE THERE WOULDN'T BE PEOPLE MAKING EXCUSES FOR HIS SHITTY PLAY.

No shit. Major Harris was a pretty damn good college quarterback who won a lot of games. Colt McCoy won more games as a starting quarterback than anybody until Kellen Moore broke his record. Troy Smith. Eric Crouch. Danny Wuerffel....all Heisman winners. Wuerffel had a title as well.

What the hell does that have to do with the NFL? Tim Tebow is a Hall of Fame college quarterback. Maybe he and Ron Dayne can open up their own wing.

Thanks for the caps lock dick.

Also thanks for this post because you actually come out and admit to what I have been accusing you of which is you hate the guy because of the media and solely that. Even if Tebow improved his QB skills, you would still hate on him. It's just like when you guys accuse Cam of blindly hating IU.

I said from the beginning that I hate the hype he gets. I said that multiple times. I guess I had to put it in caps lock before you finally paid attention.

But there is a HUGE difference between hyping a player who is performing and one who is isn't. Tom Brady is hyped. Peyton Manning is hyped. I get tired of hearing about it, but for God's sake, they perform. They don't go 6 of 22 for 60 yards when the playoffs are on the line.

Want to admire him as a person? You should. I do. The stories that you read about what he has done off the great and inspiring. I enjoy reading them. Just don't ask me to buy that he can throw a ball from here to there.

Lastly, saying I would 'still hate him' if his skill set improved....seriously, come on. If his skill set improved, then maybe he'd deserve the hype. Bret Favre I hate on a personal level...I think he was a selfish egotistical asshole. There are even things I remember about him that seemed to have been forgotten, like going to the media to call out wide receivers if they held out....which, IMO, is bullshit. Those receivers often had a shelf life of four or fives and football is a business...and he should have been staying out of theirs. But I can separate a player's ability and performance from their character, and he flat out performed.

Would I tell my kid to be like Favre? Hell no. Would I tell them to be like Tebow? Yes....accept when we were throwing the ball around.

The whole argument was that you dislike him because of the hype. You would sort of agree to that and then spew off into something completely else (that's what she said).

You take any chance to bash the guy and then come back and say you like him. That sounds exactly what Cam does with IU imo (although I agree with Btown on the fact he really does hate them). If you really did respect him so much off the field then you would just lay off the guy. You don't have to make excuses or actually pretend he can be an NFL QB like the media does but just go without ripping on him constantly. Maybe it is just my view point to where if I really respect someone I'm not going to get down on him all the time.

I'm not going to be able to check the board a lot over the weekend and we are obviously not going to see eye to eye on the subject so this will be my last post in this thread.

So what does he do?

I really don't know -- but the good thing is that he's John Fucking Elway and he basically owns Denver. He's a smart guy and just so happens to know the QB position so I'd trust him to make the right decision, but whatever it is will likely be met with a great deal of scrutiny either now (benches tebow, drafts another QB, trades for another QB, etc) or later (Tebow fails, there is no backup plan).

What say you OHB?
I'd try him out at Tight End and incorporate some trick plays similar to how Randel El has been used.
