Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

From what you stated, it didn't seem like you were really talking about local politics....I think you were talking about individual states. I consider local politics to be at the city and county level. It would seem to me as well if you fifty states with different standards, it becomes impossible to enforce those laws for food transported from one state to another.
smart states would work together to ensure that they are able to transport from one to another...etc. Bad states (states with bad leaders) will suffer until better leaders are put in place.
To me that just sounds like all states will eventually end up enacting the same regulations so they can work together. Not sure how that is different than national regulations....except we wouldn't have fifty separate state departments.

I think your ideology is blocking your intellect. You are way smarter than that....think it completely through and you will see the many benefits a system like this would offer over the current system.

The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism.

I think I should be given some credit in terms of not just simply towing the company line -- there are several ideological differences that I've stated where I differ from the democratic party (death penalty, for example).

I think there are subjects where states should be making individual decisions and cases where the issue is best served by having the federal government make those decisions. I think you would agree -- for instance, I am sure you feel that abortion is something that should be considered murder and therefore should not be left to states; rather, it should be outlawed by the federal level.

I don't think I've ever accused you of towing the company (democrat) line, but you are an admitted liberal, and tend to impulsively follow that line prior to thinking an issue through....or so it seems sometimes, but that's just my opinion.

Anyway, I stated on this thread that the federal government needs to preserve and protect our freedom and equality, and clearly murder qualifies as a removal of ones freedoms. This is not an issue by issue stance, or one out of convenience regarding the abortion issue for me, rather it is perfectly consistent with my view.

It's my opinion that people's health and lives being affected by impure foods would fall under freedom breaching as well, IMO.

you are not forced to eat the food....thus it is not a removal of a freedom.

 Please tell me you were kidding, or just weren't thinking when you said that brum. If you view abortion as murder, the victim isn't the person having the abortion brum....and the victim has death forced upon them.

Of course I was being facitious (sp), but I just don't understand how you view life as sacred but not quality of life.

stopping the potential pregnancy one millisecond before the sperm penetrates the egg = "good birth control"
one millisecond after = "murder"

Doesn't seem like much gray area there...

I view masturbation as murder, and I know most you multi platinum serial killers on here just need to face the facts.

but stopping in one millisecond prior to the 9th week (or whenever it is that you think it shouldn't be illegal) is OK, but one millisecond after is wrong? Seriously Lars...no matter where you set it, there will always be a "millisecond" prior and after.

I do not believe that it is OK for someone to remove or reduce your "quality of life" either brum.

I like the way bill hicks states his view on masturbation..."i've wiped civilizations off my chest with gym socks" ...miliseconds...hillarious

Gray, you're helping me make my point. There's almost no difference between 9 weeks +- a day or two, or even a noticeable difference between seven and nine weeks.
