Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

I know basketball the best so I'll give you my list. Remember that underrated is relative

- Chauncey Billups, not known before Detroit's championship runs, played in shadows of Hamilton and Prince

- Manu Ginobili, the lesser known reason for San Antonio's dominance. People will point to Parker and Duncan, but Manu was huge for them.

- Ray Allen, known as much for his dunking as his beautiful shot in Nowheresville (Milwaukee) and Irrelevance (Seattle) before being the least respected member of Boston's Big 3.

I think you can make an argument for Shaq. He'll never be the face of the Lakers or Heat but he was directly responsible for those teams' championships. Kobe and Wade were second fiddle in those days.

- Kevin Martin is as pure of a scorer as you will see but he's never played for a relevant team.

- The more Kevin Love you see the more you understand that he bucks every trend known to what makes a good NBA big guy. He's not fast, overly big or strong, and he isn't remotely athletic. That said, he gets double-doubles in his sleep and can stroke it as well as most NBA guards. If he played in New York or LA or had a flashier game he'd be a face of the NBA.
The overrating of NBA players is definitely underrated.

Ray Allen can dunk?

And I think Kevin Martin is overrated by die hard NBA fans.
“He’s always been a guy — maybe to a fault — he would always try to do what I said. That seems like something simple in coaching, but those are the guys I hang my hat on. We’ve had some guys in our program, we had a couple guys that felt I had a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. And they were right — I do have a bias towards E’Twaun Moore. I like guys that go to class, that are academic All-Americans, that come early, that stay late, that love the game of basketball. I am biased towards those guys. And I’m biased towards Rob Hummel. But I’m also biased towards their habits, their work ethic, and how they carry themselves."

"I’d take him to the ends of the earth — I’d want him playing for me.” - Bo Ryan on Robbie Hummel

Don't hate on Jesus Shuttlesworth. When he first came in the league he could dunk. Actually participated in a Dunk Contest during his early years in the league.

he was not MJ or Kobe or Vince Carter, but yeah he could dunk.

I've actually seen him dunk with the Celtics.

And before that many-a-times with the Bucks. You must not watch Sports Center every day of your life. What's wrong with you man!? lol

When Ray was at UConn he was known for being a finisher.

Here's a good one for you old-time baseball enthusiasts: Bob Feller. Most people don't even know who he is.

Here's his BR-page: http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/f/fellebo01.shtml

Here's some highlights:

- Pitched in 18 professional seasons (1936-1956, all with Cleveland) with a record of 266-162. He averaged 17 wins across all 18 seasons.
- Career 3.25 ERA.
- 2,581 career strike outs.
- 1.316 WHIP.
- In 1946 he threw 371.1 innings. That's 48 total games (42 starts) with a 2.18 ERA, 10.1 WAR, 348 Strike Outs, 2.27 SO/BB. 36 Complete games with 10 Shut Outs!
- He had the highest WAR for pitchers in three of his years, 2nd for 3, and 4th for one. Top 5 WAR among ALL players for 5 years.
- He had the most wins of all pitchers for 6 of his 18 seasons (yeah, yeah, i know wins don't mean anything).
- 8-time all-star.
- 1940 Triple Crown winner.
- 1962 Hall of Fame inductee.

Also had a rad pitching motion:

BTW, Wilbur Wood threw 376 2/3 innings in a season.....26 years after Feller threw 371. Also made 49 starts and followed it up with a 48 start season and 359 1/3 innings.

Knuckleballs can do wonders.

revisiting this thread:

Kevin Love is definitely the most underrated player currently playing cross-sport as far as I'm concerned. he very well might be the best big man in the NBA but you'd never know it.

Rondo as underrated? Don't think he's overrated or anything and 3 years ago I would have agreed. He's an Eastern All-Star that has great court vision, good defense, and absolutely no jumper. I'd say he's properly rated.
