Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

Paul is firmly in 2nd in New Hampshire right now...that is a pleasant surprise for me.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/jan/5/santorum-gets-big-bounce-new-hampshire/?page=all#pagebreak
He has been right up there for awhile. It isn't really a surprise. Santorum will get a bump and probably end up in third though he can't really count on the same amount of evangelical support in NH as he had in Iowa.

To me, NH isn't really any bigger deal to me than is Iowa. The results may be more indicitave of the general voting public, but NH has so few delegates that really with the fact that over half the states are doing proportional delegates this year NH is just a blip. I mean they have 12 delegates. Even if Romney get 40% of the vote it isn't like he is going to run away with it.

To me the contests really start in South Carolina. SC has a bunch of delegates up for grabs and the contest is far enough after NH that the candidates have time to get into the state and campaign. Plus with contests already in the books, some of the pretenders (Huntsman, Bachmann, Perry) will be seperated out.
I will tell you what I find more interesting than virtually anything else out there. I listen to talk radio off and on basically throughout every day. That includes Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh (to a much lesser degree), Michael Savage, Sean Hannity (less often) and multiple local talk guys in Fort Wayne and Indy. Across all of the shows I just mentioned, no candidate has more supporters calling in and extolling the virtues of their candidate and exposing the myths than that of Ron Paul. All of the above hosts are basically anti-Paul guys, so I have no reason to believe that their screeners are told to let more Paul supporters on than others....I just think the Paul base is more jazzed up than anyone else, and as he continues to have solid showings, I am hopeful that those supporters will gain more traction and grow the base.

The body knows what fighters don't: how to protect itself. A neck can only twist so far. Twist it just a hair more and the body says, "Hey, I'll take it from here because you obviously don't know what you're doing... Lie down now, rest, and we'll talk about this when you regain your senses." It's called the knockout mechanism.

Well I think that is a given. I don't think anyone doubts that Paul's supporters are the most passionate. It is always a question of getting a broad range of support.
Speaking of Ron Paul supporters, i was pleasantly surprised this morning when I went out to start my car and saw the people across the street from me had put up a Ron Paul for President sign in their front yard - they were Obama supporters in the last election.

That is a plus. Those independant votes are a plus. How does Arkansas handle primaries? Are you limited to your registered party?

"Liberal, shmiberal. That should be a new word. Shmiberal: one who is assumed liberal, just because he's a professional whiner in the newspaper. If you'll read the subtext for many of those old strips, you'll find the heart of an old-fashioned Libertarian. And I'd be a Libertarian, if they weren't all a bunch of tax-dodging professional whiners." - Berkeley Breathed

We have ope primaries. You walk in and they ask you whether you are wanting to vote in the Republican or Democrat Primary and then hand you the ballot of the party you choose.
I am registered as an independent and voted in the republican primary last election.

This is why I could vote for Huntsman:

If he is truly interested in unifying and avoiding rhetoric to win votes, then why did he throw out the whole 'Iowa picks corn, New Hampshire picks president' line?

+1.
Reminds me of Rush's stuff about wanting Obama to fail. Should we just stop trying to better our country if we don't agree with the man in the White House?

LOL.

40% of the vote in and Romney has 37% of the vote, Paul 24%, Huntsman 17%, Gingrich and Santorum 10%, and Rick Perry 1% (a whole 572 votes so far).

Another Lars candidate put to pasture.

Probably 2. Perry is gonna stay in through SC, but there is no way he does better than 3rd there so that will be the end of his campaign.

Huntsman has to be done after tonight. He put everything he had into NH and the best he could muster is 3rd. I'm guessing that he drops out and will eventually endorse Romney in the hopes of joining his ticket.
