Welcome to Our Hoosier Board!

Most of the posters here have been around for nearly a decade now. You'll find their knowledge and insight to be second to none. We have a really strong community and value everyone's opinions.

Feel free to jump into any thread and voice your opinion with conviction. We love heated debates and even some fanbase ribbing from time to time. We pride ourselves on the lack of moderation needed to make this board successful.

Please remember that we have been around many years and have an astute ability to tell the difference between an immature, childish, trash-talking troll and a passionate fan voicing his or her opinion. It is at the discretion of Jazen and myself whether any moderating actions should be taken at any given time. It's a very, very rare thing. In other words, no worries....you'll be fine!

Cheers,
sirbrianwilson

That makes me sick.

I love these players because they represent my alma mater -- not because they're good at basketball.

IU as a school > IU as a sports team

I just want to clear this up..

Minnesota is not a good basketball team. Giving up 77 points to them is pretty pathetic, especially when Rodney Williams was in foul trouble all night. Tom Crean made some odd personnel adjustments, but I don't know what the team dynamics were tonight -- sickness (Watford), playing like shit (Verdell), not playing with energy (Hulls). This teams' defense was woeful against Penn State and they followed it up with another really bad performance.

I think we thought we were going to cakewalk against the last place team in the conference, and it probably didn't help that our team used Sheehey's return as a crutch. I give Minnesota credit for slowing the pace waaaaaay down and playing under control. They limited IU's possessions, scored on their own, and forced a low energy IU team into an ugly styled game.

Still though you can't expect to be taken seriously and lose to teams like Minnesota at home. Like I said earlier, I didn't expect us to be great this year but even then I would expect us to win at home fairly consistently. Hopefully this serves as a wakeup call to this team that you can't cakewalk just because you have a single digit next to your name. I'll be really interested to see how we respond to Ohio State.
As well we all will.

A couple things you touched on. Minny dictating the tempo. Tubby can coach. Also, saying VJ was playing like shit. Finally! I don't know how many games you have watched, but that guy has played like shit for most of the year, with the exception of a few games. Can't figure out why he still gets the amount of minutes he does, espcecially down the stretch. Why was he even in the game at all during the last minute? He can't shoot 3's, not quick enough to get steals on the defensive end most of the time and can't even pass good. What the hell does he do good? Still trying to figure out what his role on this team is. I know, senior leadership, lol. Senior leadership is pretty much overrated on this team.

At least I have been consistent as far as my lack of love for VJ and I am not alone. I know a lot of people whom I just run into on the street as IU fans say the same thing. Guy totally sucks, but oh boy let's not say anything negative towards him because he came here when no one else would and stuck it out. I probably hated Devin Dumass a little worse, but basically the same feelings. Both are like nails on a chalkboard. Guy has been there 4 years, and the only improvement I have seen and the rest of you have commented on, is his defense, which is still not that great.

Also, what the fuck was Pritchard in the game at all. That guy had the most stupid foul ever in that game.
http://yfrog.com/h8lt5qjj:iphone
That doesn't prove anything. Supposedly he shot free throws after a recent game, but he was 0-2 tonight. He isn't going to hit those off balance, fade away jumpers consistenly. They have never been high percentage shots.

Your love affair for him is just flat out sick. Sorry, can't wait for this guy to go.
Lol. You've tried covering up your hatred of VJ the past few weeks. It all comes out tonight. Good try.

Hats off to Minny....crash the boards and don't turn the ball over.....good things happen.
Purdue had 11 offensive rebounds and only 3 turnovers tonight against Wisconsin.
and they lost a close game against a team that is better than them.
Wisconsin is better than Purdue based on what?
being better at basketball

It's 12:11 AM, and Verdell is doing ball handling drills. What a douche!

I don't care if we're playing Ohio State at Ohio State...I think some guys definitely need to get benched on Sunday. Verdell for sure. I like what I've been seeing from Remy lately...give the kid a start. Watford....I don't know if his ankle was bothering him after he tweaked it, if he was sick, or what...but when he was in there he wasn't really into it. I'd give Sheehey a start, even if he still can't go more than 15-20 minutes, send Watford a message that the kind of effort that he put out there tonight is unacceptable. He's our best player..he needs to show more leadership than he did tonight.
Watford is not our best player.
Out of that whole post that's what you pick out? Anyways...you're probably right, Cody's the most important player on our team, but Watford, with his skill set, should be the hardest guy for other teams to match up against. My point about him is...when he plays like he did against Kentucky and Michigan State he's a nightmare for other teams to guard. He needs to make himself that hard to guard every game. Tonight he drifted around the three point line all night...didn't take the ball to the basket or post anybody up. He made himself very easy to guard. He was barely involved in the offense. He can't let that happen, especially at times when Cody is out of the game. As an upperclassman and one of our most experienced players, he needs to take over at times when the team needs his scoring. For him to disappear like he did tonight is unacceptable, and he needs to know that...that's all I'm saying.

I haven't read through this thread yet....

I would like to say a couple of things though.

First off, don't freak out everyone. We've won several games we shouldn't have, so it only makes sense we lose a few we shouldn't as well. We're still a good team, and we'll be fine.

Minny has played tough on the road this year, and they beat us fair and square. We gave up a million offensive rebounds, Watford and Verdell played TERRIBLE, we couldn't hit a 3 to save our life, and we were still competitive.

Teams that hit an egregious amount of 3s like we do can beat anyone, and we can lose to anyone. It was just one of those nights. I thought we would be 3-2 at this point of the season, and we are. I'd rather beat OSU and lose to Minny than the other way around.

We're still having a phenomenal year, don't freak out!

time for bed here...but need the cathartic sleep effect of spilling out thoughts/despair...

1) VO, VJ and hulls (the latter two especially) set the negative tone for this one. none of those guys showed up at the bell.
2) VO needs to get his head around him. lots of well deserved praise for early season play, but truth is it has not been there on a consistent basis of late.
3) pritchard is pritchard.
4) hulls needs to be the central focus of offense (not necessarily shooting) when he is on the court. otherwise, he is just a defensive liability.
5) i've said it before...more remy. glad crean seemed to get the message as well. his development is key to any notion of a post-season run. wouldn't mind even seeing him starting a bit down the road.
6) roth is great. not a great player, but did what he was asked to within what could reasonably be expected.
7) will...gotta love will. if there was ever a game that should have VJ looking over his shoulder regarding starting role (not to mention VO based on this and last performances) ...
8) this game just went to prove what should have been obvious for the whole year...an incredibly small margin for error. we'll make the tourney, and may even make the second weekend...but the future, bright as it is, is still just that.
9) oh...and HIT THE DEFENSIVE GLASS AND TAKE CARE OF THE ROCK!!!

alright, i'm done. go hoosiers

Im more pissed IU gave up its homecourt dominance to minny and getting beat the way they did...being in the top ten for the first time in years....and they lose to the last team in the B1G...smh...unacceptable! But who am i to judge?

I was really hoping we'd ride into columbus bumping with confidence after a few good wins but now I see that's not going to happen. Maybe we win and we'll stay in the top ten, or we lose back to back and see how this years team handles it ... poop, poop feeling

I'm callin out Oladipo. I love him, but his defense has gone by the wayside these last 2 games. I can't even count how many times he's been burned.
Agreed 100%. He is a big reason for our bad defense in big ten play in my opinion except for before he was allowing good/decent players to get around him; tonight he allowed julian welch to get around him. julian welch is slow as hell, that is just weird for oladipo.
He was -19 last night. Say what you want about the +/- stat. When you see a guy getting beat repeatedly on defense and then see a -19 next to his name, it just helps confirm what you think you're seeing on the court. Oladipo was terrible last night.

That sure would have explained Wisconsin being two games behind them in the standings coming in. :sarcasm:

And if no turnovers and offensive bode so well for them, how is it that as a 2 1/2 point favorite they lost by 5 in a game that they didn't lead after the opening moments?

you're right brum...the key to victory is to stay away from the offensive rebounds and turn the fucking ball over..... ::finger::

We are bitching about officials and have a 21-6 advantage from the line.
Referees definitely favored us last night. A couple horrible, horrible calls went in our favor. Elston took a charge while being CLEARLY in the restricted area and Verdell threw the ball off of Minny out of bounds but he had already knocked the ball out. Those were both plain as day.

Some of OHB would bitch about the referees if they were the SI Swimsuit team....

Read through this thread...

Dedicated complained about how much Verdell sucks. In other news, Obama is the president, Carrie Underwood is pretty, and cake tastes good. :D

Also, if you're out there DC, and you honestly think all Cody does is dunk in transition or get layups from others' hard work, I hope you watched the game last night.
